Hi,
Here is the address: http://209.216.35.195/
It is called Die Hauptkampflinie I think and can be accessed from the
ADC2 info at HPSSIMS.

Hi, I have had ADC II now for several years, but have never really used it. There used to be a website where a lot of games had been converted, including House Divided, which I downloaded and tried to play solitaire, but lacked the patience at the time to figure out the ADC mechanics. If you are rea... |

This appears to be strictly an eastern theater evaluation. I think Lee's Lieutenants by Douglas Southall Freeman gave the best evaluation of the Confederate leaders in the east. The whole slant of that work was how the attrition in leadership talent over the course of the war doomed the Army of Nort... |

A very insightful commentary on unit quality and leadership by General Walter. Another bias in favor of the Confederates which has managed to carry over into the HPS system is the different command radii of Union and Confederate commanders. I'm not sure what the justification for this was or is. And... |

To take the Concentrate at Culpeper - 3rd Corps screens the right flank on 6/15" as an example, I think the author of the campaign (Doug Strickler?) hypothesizes that such an option would lead to a battle of such magnitude that, no matter the outcome, would conclude the campaign. A case could be mad... |

Fortunately, there is a campaign editor, so I guess someone could design or modify a campaign to enhance the fog of war. At first glance, the campaign tree for the full Gettysburg campaign looks pretty intimidating, though.

My great grandfather, L C Nick, was a German immigrant who was appointed 1st Cpl in Capt Gomez' Co A (Orleans Guard), 21st and 23rd La Infantry. He was stationed at Ft Livingston on Barataria Bay until the fall of New Orleans, when he received orders to report to Vicksburg. He was captured enroute a... |

There are a lot of great ideas in this thread that apparently have been implemented successfully in previous game engines. My personal favorite, as I mentioned in an earlier thread, was the SSI Napoleonic cavalry charge system, where you could preplot your cavalry to charge or countercharge and they... |

I think Al Amos makes some valid points. About twenty years ago a company called SSI made excellent 19th century turn-based wargames. Their morale scale was 1-99, and a unit's number was lowered gradually by casualties and fatigue. Units received a number of operational points based on command, cont... |

I still think the optimum artillery supply solution is something more akin to the infantry supply system. Each unit, when it runs out of ammo, would draw supply from the train in proportion to it's size. I would also like to see battery-size units that could be broken down into sections at the playe... |

For those interested, I received a post from the Brett Schulte's ACW Recommended Reading group that the final book in the series would be out @ 21 June. My take on the series was that the authors had some very different perceptions on the competence of some of the leaders involved than I did, and re... |

Hi, Rich,
I have barely scratched the surface of HPS Gettysburg and am going to
the Tillercon. Will the discount there make it worth waiting, or is
the 5 for 3 deal better?

For a lot of interesting information pertaining to logistics I recommend "Plowshares into Swords", by Frank Vandiver. It is a biography of Josiah Gorgas, the Confederate Chief of Ordnance, but contains a lot of information pertaining to the procurement of arms and ammunition. It says Gorgas tried to... |
