Hi folks. I'm a former John Tiller game junkie who moved on to harder stuff. :) In my opinion Mr. Whitehead isn't giving a fair picture of just how wonderful these Scourge games are. I've been playing these games for years since the first Take Command Bull Run game came out. The Gettysburg, Antietam...

After spending many hours over many years playing Tiller games, I'm afraid the system is just too old now to buy new titles. It's been more than 10 years since Battleground Gettysburg marched down the pike, and while the game system has been tweaked in the HPS games, it's pretty clear they are painf...

Hey folks. I served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1981 in VS-33, an anti-submarine squadron out of NAS North Island near San Diego. While our S-3 Viking squadron was based in the West, the World Famous Screwbirds deployed on the USS America in the Caribbean and the Med. A few years ago I noticed tha...

Hi ... I would say Waterloo and Eckmuhl. Stay away from Napoleon in Russia. The Russian units are overmodeled and unhistorical, especially the Cossack and militia units. I've seen Cossacks stand up to flank charges by Guard cavalry units of equal strength and win, more than once. From everything I'v...

I would like to see a brigade combat effectiveness rule that would automatically kick in once the unit suffered a certain percentage of losses. Once a brigade passes this threshold it should suffer a step of morale loss and no longer be able to take part in offensive operations. It could defend thou...

Hi folks ... I'm considering buying the Chickamauga game but have a few questions.

1) Is it a good game compared to the other titles?

2) Does the campaign game include short, smaller scenarios or is is mostly monster battles with lots of units.

Thanks, C.

Hi folks ... A question about the morale ratings of some units. The regiments of the Vermont brigade in VI Corps, perhaps one of the best formations (aside from the Iron brigade) fielded by the Union in the civil war, all have C ratings. Why? While historically the unit didn't have a role to play in...

Hi folks ... It has been years since I bought a new HPS game and I'm intrigued by some of the more recent titles that have been released. I seem to recall that there was once a deal that offered a discount if you bought a number of games at the same time. Is this deal still available? If so, what ar...

Hi folks ... I'm told by a Matrix staffer that both bundles will be out by American Thanksgiving.

Nothing against them, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Hi folks ... Matrix Games has announced that John Tiller's Battleground Series of reworked Talonsoft-era games will released for sale later this month. The civil war games include Gettysburg, Antietam, Shiloh, Chickamauga and Bull Run. The Napoleonic games include Waterloo, Prelude to Waterloo and N...

Hi folks ... Madminute Games has just released the demo for its new Second Manassas campaign game. If you have a fairly up to date computer the play, detail and graphics are awesome. The demo features Gibbon's Iron brigade slugging it out with Jackson's troops at Brawner's Farm. Their previous title...

The folks at Madminute Games are working on a new title called Take Command: 2nd Manassas. Their previous game, Bull Run, is simply outstanding, so it is a safe bet that this one will be even better. Here is the blurb from their website: Regards, Conjotter Following up their award winning Take Comma...
