Except if one is playing MP, in which one really has no choice.

Ken, Thanks. One has always needed to select a firing unit. The game engine now considers multiple selected units to be treated as one, and accumulates their individual results. This is how I understand it. While this works for offensive fire, can you shed any light as to whether any changes were ma...

Firing multiple units at once does not increase the effectiveness of fire. Each unit's fire result is handled separately then the total casualties and fatigue are added together and the losses displayed. Ken, This confuses me. If the reference is to artillery vs. infantry, then correct. If the algo...

Sad to hear. I competed in a number of MP games in the past few years with John.

Lt. Newell, If you would like to jump right into the frying pan, I have an offer for you. Join me as CSA player (you read this correctly) in a Mine Run battle. Our opponents will be two of the Union's best in Generals Danner and Riggs. What a way to learn quickly! After we have stymied them, you wil...

If you are downloading the Tiller Battleground package and you are running Windows 10 at its current level, you might experience a problem which I currently have open with Slitherine. The install is looking for AUDIERE.DLL which I believe is a file related to audio file types. I find no such file on...

Both artillery and small arms ammo have the same manner of depletion regardless whether one is playing Phased or Turn-based. Small arms ammo depletes by a random percentage based upon data in the PDT. Most, if not all PDTs, across all the campaign series have the following line: 24 1 1 This establis...

The problem is not so much the ammo in the scenarios as it is the tendency of gamers to fire at long range. In most cases artillery seldom fired at maximum range, for that matter neither did the infantry. Most accounts of Civil War combat indicate except for sharpshooters most infantry fire was und...

Larry, Your idea (forced march) is well-taken but, if one is playing the standard 20-minute scenario, forced march is the standard pace. All units, every turn, are marching at a pace faster than AP Hill's forced march to Antietam or the VI Corps forced march to Gettysburg. I did a study on Civil War...

General Danner is too generous in his comment. Most of my time in the ACWGC has been spent in developing large scenarios for multi-player use. As such it has involved trying to understand Turn-based play as it is shaped by the game engine. I completed some studies years back involving the rifle, mov...

The word is "cites", not "sites". I typed "cites" and, for some reason, the software changed it. Strange.
