The best way to visit the larger battlefields is to install the apps from the Civil War Trust website onto your cellphone. https://www.battlefields.org/visit/mobile-apps/civil-war-battle-maps-app Then, as long as you have cell/satellite coverage you can see your location on the annotated battlefield...

I'm headed to the VA Peninsula tomorrow for a tour of the 1862 Seven Days campaign and the 1864 Overland end-game at Cold harbor and Petersburg. I told my wife that would wrap up my bucket list but my brother reminded me we still need to do the Red River campaign in LA.

Do you mean the "Old Banshee" site? I don't think there is a dedicated mod site anymore since WDS took over, is there?

I'm headed to the Ozarks next month with my brother Mark - Wilson's Creek - Pea Ridge - Prairie Grove - Newtonia - Carthage so we fired up the Newtonia scenario with the new weather versions. This scenario is small and short and ends at night so it was nice to experience the gradual sunset. I was wo...

Yes, that was a fatal flaw. There were a few occasions where the CSA came close to doing that but that thinking also led to the result at Gettysburg. My view is that Longstreet's strategic thinking was more likely to bring victory. A friend of mine and I used to play Victory Games "The Civil W...

What was the decision process that led to 30 minute turn scenarios? I looked through the literature a bit but couldn't find it but if it's been discussed I apologize for my ignorance. Otherwise it's like the proverbial elephant in the living room. Not sure I would want to play these but I'll try to ...

[quote="simovitch"]I did all the weather mods for Old Banshee back in the day, for most of the games on Ken's list above, except Corinth. I wasn't sure how many folks were using them since both sides had to have the pdt files for HTH. I think the variable weather makes the games so much mo...

Man, the 'John Ferry' name has been around for a long time. Good to here he is still involved with this series.

I can't explain why but controlling a general rout of my forces while facing a major defeat is really stressful to me, so much so that I get to a point where I can't even watch the replay anymore (sniff). I will let the victor have a few turns of rampage but after that I send a termination bid for s...

I visited these battlefields this March and I was actually impressed with Corinth more than I thought I would be. The visitor center is very good quality, built around the remains of Battery Robinette. The contraband camp is interesting history, although there are no buildings or artifacts remaining...

Thanks for the response and forwarding. Re: Corinth, I sent off the updated historical weather variants to JTS a few months back for a possible future update of Corinth, Peninsula, Vicksburg, Gettysburg and Ozark. The Purdy scenarios use Iuka.pdt which I had to copy and update to the newest version ...

I'm noticing several instances of missing 3d graphics, especially in Shenandoah; this ghost-cavalry one is from Chickamauga. Is this being addressed, and is there a protocol for reporting these? My old OOB-viewer program from old banshee days would be good for this but it doesn't work with the new r...

My Brother and I (and sister and her husband) did a 4-day whirlwind tour of Nashville-Murfreesboro-Chattanooga-Chickamauga-Corinth-Shiloh and back to Nashville just last month. My brother flew in from Texas and the rest of us from California - it was a real treat to finally get out and do something....

I've completed the weather mods for JTS for Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Ozark, and Peninsula and they work great, both stand-alone scenarios and complete weather campaigns. Corinth, however, is another story. If I change the pdt version from 2 to anything else I get a crash; something something data read...
