As I said above, "the ratings in the game are related to very specific things". In terms of those specific things Lee's ability and application never wavered. Consequently, he should have very high ratings for 'Leadership' and 'Command'. But, Paul, in another thread you wrote, "The '...

I think the ratings should remain unchanged. Command Rating This rating is essentially used to determine if Disrupted units become un-Disrupted that turn. I do not see that Lee ever lessened in this respect, either personally or in his ability to influence his subordinates in that regard. Lee had h...

Concerning Lee at Gettysburg - is he overrated with a Command rating of B? His command performance at Gettysburg was arguably his worst. Does he deserve a "B" or some other grade? Second, if the Battle of Gettysburg is refought by the ANV and the AotP 100 times, how many times does the Ao...

"There are over 9 million variations after just 3 moves each, 288 billion different possible positions after 4 moves each, and 318,000,000,000 ways to play just the first 4 moves. In a whole Chess game, there are more possible iterations of chess games than there are atoms in the observable un...

With the recent advances in A/I programs (not in our games of course, lol), do you think it is possible for someone to design a program to take into consideration all of the movements, variables, and decisions that we make each turn, and then use all that to defeat us with regularity in these games...

https://blakeacwgc.wixsite.com/trainingacademy/acwgc-201 You may be thinking of this article by Kennon Whitehead from long ago. It could stand with an update but is still an excellent summary. Be forewarned, if you are asking which ones to use, you will be engulfed with two-bit opinions

Can Robert E. Lee find the equivalents of Longstreet, Stuart, and Jackson in the west? Here's a fun game - 1864 in Georgia - Lee commands the AoT - who are his three CCs and cavalry leader? CAVALRY Forrest was a great raider but not a scout like Stuart. Lee could utilize Forrest like he did Mosby or...

What would Lee have done in this situation? Interesting to ponder.

I never thought of what Lee might have been able to do in a hilly/mountainous terrain with a trained army. No wonder Grant was determined to run his army down before they could reach the mountains in 1865!

Alright, I have to vote for the Army of the Potomac. At least the Army of Tennessee had a single commander throughout most of the time period in question. The Army of the Potomac requires a reference book to remember who commanded it and when. The Army of Tennessee had lots of internal drama but at ...

The Army of Tennessee or the Army of the Potomac - which army, from the period of 1862 - 1863, was more dysfunctional? Anyone have a two-bit opinion to throw in? This period for the AotP includes: The failure on the Peninsula and McClellan's cautious generalship. The failed experiment with Pope. Th...

The games do not understand seniority though. In the example of Early's Division from previously, I did a test with Gettysburg and found that Gordon was chosen to replace Early (presumably as the highest rated subordinate). I did the test three times using different variables and each time it was Go...

I assume it has everything to do with computer coding and nothing to do with anything else. Don't get me wrong, I am in full agreement that that would be a very cool thing. If Early is wounded at Gettysburg, I want Gordon taking over the division and not Isaac Avery. Add it to your Christmas list fo...

Urban destruction, as a battlefield tactic, wouldn't really be in the Civil War playbook. The only notable exception is the Battle of Fredericksburg. But that's the only real urban fighting I can think of in the war and it's duration was only part of a day. A more likely "Civil War" tacti...
