Sir!!! I see that no Yankee has stood up and accepted your challenge! They are probably a little nervous about your Collection of Yankee Battle flags you have hanging at your HQ. My offer of a maneuver still stands sir. Two brave and true opponents have stepped forward from the other side to do bat...

Gentlemen, <salute> I am saddened and dismayed that the CSA is wiping out most of its medals and awards. I have not been active in the club for many years now, but I have held almost every position in the Confederate Army, including working at and commanding VMI, and Commander of the ANV, as well a...

I see that the Confederacy has now gained the upper hand leading in two scenarios to the Yankee's one (and two draws). The Confederacy also seems to have a big lead in battles overall (CSA 60, USA 45).

Sounds great.
My old clunker of a computer is at capacity to the point where I can not download anything new. Fortunately, a new hard drive has been ordered and when it arrives I can begin to fill it with more wargames including 'Forgotten Campaigns'.

I am available for a game on various battlefields: Chancellorsville; Chickamauga; Corinth; Gettysburg; Overland; Peninsula; Shenandoah and Shiloh. I usually play with all Optional Rules except the following: Manual Defensive Fire; Artillery Capture; Mixed Organizational Penalty; and Extreme Fog of W...

No forward movement of infantry line, units in contact can fight unless one side withdraws; Surrounded forces can attempt to break out and may be assisted by other units within four hexes (twilight visibility limit); Lateral movement behind the lines, supply, reinforcements permitted Cavalry can pro...

This house rule was originally posted by me in the Mason Dixon Tavern early in 2021. Artillery stacking is limited to a maximum of eight guns per hex at all times. However, I am also agreeable to the limit being reduced to six guns per hex, in which case any eight-gun battery that exists in either a...

Whether they go for it or not, such information can be obtained. It is not a pretty sight, at least for those people on the other side. Last month the ANV recorded 34 battles completed. The results were: C.S.A. Major Victory 17 Minor Victory 2 Draw 4 U.S.A. Major Victory 4 Minor Victory 7 The ANV's ...

In the last two turns I did in a Chickamauga scenario, I had to move my supply wagon around an uncrossable creek in order to resupply my units on the other side, so the answer appears to be that a creek that is not crossable by bridge or ford will prevent resupply. Is it possible that there is anot...

Does no-one know the answer? I'm starting to think that supply does extend across an uncrossable creek. This is despite the fact that although a " bridge must have a strength of at least 3/4 the maximum to carry artillery or supply wagons" the supply function of them is uninterrupted by su...

In a scenario I'm currently playing it appears that an enemy supply wagon is providing supply to units on the other side of a creek that cannot be crossed by any units. Were the wagon to trace a line through hexes that can be moved through, the units on the other side of the creek would be well out ...

I don't like it when my units are isolated but I do like the Isolation Rules. The Civil War was essentially linear warfare. It would have been exceedingly rare for a brigade, let alone a regiment, to go wandering off on their own independent operation. I think any units in a game that get themselves...

I stall the match out!! Make them wait at least a week before I send a msg saying I’ll send a turn shortly. Then wait another week to do so!!! I can guarantee that anyone who does that to me will, for better or worse, lose me as an opponent. They will probably also run the risk of me reporting them...

If I feel that there is a chance that I may turn it around or can reduce their victory level I will battle on to the end. I would not bother cringing in a defensive stance just to drag the matter out [much too boring and somewhat rude to my opponent] but if I consider that a well planned attack coul...

I was reading a bio on Napoleon and the author (Andrew Roberts) buried an interesting footnote in the back of his book. During the discussion of the Battle of Waterloo he stated that it was one of Napoleon's worst conducted battles and that crucial errors led to his defeat. Then he had a footnote (...
