What determines how and how far a unit moves after it routs? A number of things but mainly: terrain; presence of enemy units; and presence/number of friendly units. Does it help to have units behind the front line in order to decrease the distance a unit routs? That will not help decrease the dista...

I'm very glad that the Cabinet has sought input from Members prior to, yet more, Rule changes. I hope that many Members contribute their thoughts so ‘what the people want’ can be seen. To me, the main thing to decide is what is the goal of changing/not changing the current process. I'm basically thi...

I stumbled across an amusing thread at CivilWarTalk ( https://civilwartalk.com/threads/chatgpt-trusted-resource.217397/ ). In the opening post the Member asked an AI engine to draw him a map showing the major troops movements at the Battle of Gettysburg. Here's what he got: https://civilwartalk.com/...

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get a response. I don't usually play manoeuvres except for training but I think I would enjoy playing against an experienced opponent. A courier will soon be dispatched but not for a little while as it's currently the middle of the night for me and I'm about to pack up f...

The issue with artillery and ammunition isn't so much that the Confederates "didn't have enough" but that what they had was often defective. There was also a huge mixture of weapons in each unit. ... guess what the main complaint was of Confederate gunners? My knowledge of the small arms ...

To My misguided Yankee club members ( Laughing as i type )if we get trounced i will never bring it up again but if we win or it turns out to be a good game i will report on it and continue to seek out Brave club members that want to modify how they see and play this game. I am not trying to cause a...

It's a terrible rule as demonstrated above ... Here's someone above that, like me, has played a lot of games as both armies saying it's evident the rule destroys nearly every scenario for the Union side, and your response is to provide a handful of examples to back your stance while completely disr...

"Would Stuart have left the Cavalry Corps if asked by Lee?" I'm confident that General Stuart, and many others, would have done anything General Lee asked of them. However, I have doubts that Lee would have asked him. Stuart's infantry experience was limited although he did well for a tim...

I've yet to play with the latest version but the change with guns sounds good to me. Upping the stacking figure to 80 [from 50] should lessen the ability to cram as many guns in a hex [not as much for my liking but that's another story]. So, in a 1,000 man stacking limit scenario you used to be able...

Whenever I see pictures from America I always note the abundance of flags. It is a rare thing here. The man across from me used to fly a flag but he moved out last year and I do not know of any flags being displayed (apart from public buildings) in the entire town of about 90,000 people. There are p...

I'm sorry to hear that as no trip to the hospital is a fun experience but I'm glad everything went well. One of the main reasons I chose to live where I do was the presence of a sizable public hospital. [It wasn't just the great climate, koalas, and coastal lifestyle.] I had to take my daughter to t...

I joined the club very early on following its inception and have watched the games evolve since then. I was in the Union Army until about 5 years when I switched to the south in order to experience all the fun from the southern side. As my record will attest I don't care much about winning and will...

LOL.
There are a few notations on my guidon that list the battles of Mixed Organizational Penalty. We shall never surrender that ground.

Thank You for the response. to your points Mixed Organizational Penalty : I agree it is a Silly rule However IMO it aids the Union in that the side with the smaller units and less of them CSA sometimes is forced to stack Mixed units so as to Get a Larger force in a hex so it is a way to offer the U...
