The breastworks could be outside of your line of sight and are thus not visible.

I saw this article a few months back. It does glean some interesting insight; however, it lacks a lot of nuance. First, it uses Wikipedia as a source for listing if a battle was a tactical or strategic victory--many of which could be debated. In examining the particular section on Lee, one notices t...

I'd have to disagree with this take on Longstreet. His actions saved the Army of Northern division several times. At Antietam, he helped stabilize the center after the Confederates were pushed back from the Sunken Road. At the Wilderness, he launched one of the most aggressive assaults of his career...

Hello, I'm interested in writing an article for a military journal that teaches how an officer can combine books, staff rides/battlefield tours, and wargaming to both learn history and apply the lessons learned in a practical way. Part of this project would involve providing a brief after-action rep...

My issue with the statement that raiders such as Morgan having little strategic success is that it presumes it is their fault they lacked the strategic success. The problem is that--especially for the Confederacy-- their leadership failed to replicate the tactical success of raiders such as Morgan, ...

My family is part of the Irish diaspora. I know one of my ancestors fought for the Union and picked up an 1862 Tower rifle from a confederate soldier that I currently have in my possession. I know other parts of my family fought for the CSA but do not know if they were Irish.

A lot of good points have been brought up, and I agree that there definitely should be a rebalance of trenches. However, in my experiences where I generally play more open ended/meeting engagements rather than the historical scenarios, I think it makes sense to allow trenches since the victory point...

If I might add a friendly dissenting opinion. Part of the reason why I play historical wargaming is not necessarily to repeat history but to take what I've learned from it and apply it to different situations. In essence, just because an event unfolded in a certain way does not mean I have to repeat...
