I learned to nap standing up in Boot Camp. Came in handy for those Friday afternoon parades. Take a nap while the speeches were made then wake up when the pass in review command was given. :D

This is a matter of personal preference. Some people are gamers, they want to know everything in advance so they can plan their game to maximize their chance of winning. Others prefer to play with limited knowledge preferring to develop their strategy to meet the conditions. Personally I like the ca...

You have to remember BGG was the second game in the BG series and the first ACW game and came out in 1995. I would guess several of the designers had played the Richard Berg ACW boardgames. One of the reasons I bought BGG was it appeared to be similar to Berg's TSS, Bloody Shiloh and Gleam of Bayone...

Gentlemen, I'm playing Antietam's First Bull Run scenario 003 v.1 and the scenario starts off with some unattached regiment troops. Is there a way to assign/attach these troops to a brigade or division? I thought I read somewhere that this is possible, but I am thinking that it doesn't apply to thi...

Column Melee House Rules If I had to guess, and this might be confirmed by some old timers like Ned Simms, DW Mallory, or Mark Nelms, but I bet that when the HPS version of the games was released that many people played the game in Turns. This is poorly named, I know! But in "Turns" each ...

Perhaps try Gettysburg 078, it also utilises the BIG Gettysburg map. ....... If anyone knows where those (over 19,000) missing scenarios can be found I'd love to know. Inside the Campaign folder of my Gettysburg are 3084 scenario files, since there is one with weather and one without that is 1542 s...

No Melee in column is a House rule not a Club rule. It's one I require of all my opponents, no infantry column melee except when crossing bridges/fords and the first hex beyond, but is not required by the club. If you were playing under that rule you would not be permitted to melee the limbered arti...

I installed my games on a USB drive so I could play on my desktop or laptop. I had to enter the serial number on both the first time I opened the game on them. The games load a little slower because the USB is not as fast as loading from an onboard disk drive but they run fine. Currently have over 5...

Thanks for the responses. Actually my thinking is if you change the file name of a campaign game does leader losses ect carry over or does it confuse the game Sorry I misunderstood the question. NO changing the game file name will not mess up a Campaign. When the game goes to the battle phase the i...

Back when I first found pbem gaming email had limited storage so you had to keep the number of saved emails down. With the large capacity providers give you today that habit has gone. Now I create a folder when I start a new game and store all the emails there and when the game is done I can delete ...

I won't play without the Artillery Capture Option on. That being said I rarely fire captured guns once my opponent is further than 2-3 hexes away, casualties it causes are not worth the ammo loss. Once that happens I may send a small high Fatigue unit to keep it for the VP's and spike it if it looks...

Just ran a quick test. Set up a unit D'd, routed and in column. All were detached. Did 3 night turns, D'd and column units recovered Fatigue all 3 turns. Routed unit did not until it rallied then it recovered some fatigue on the turn it rallied. Just realized I ran this test on my 4.05.1 version, cu...

My first battlefield as a kid was Fort Necessity, the battle at Fort Necessity in the summer of 1754 was the opening action of the French and Indian War. Also known as the Battle of the Great Meadows, took place on July 3, 1754, near present-day Farmington in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It is loca...

I've been thinking about this very topic for some time now. It seems to me that the higher ranks should be reserved for officers who actively hold administrative positions in the club. Instead of permanent ranks, I would suggest 'brevet' ranks above Brigadier General, corresponding to the positions...

I was having trouble stacking with artillery units until I found in the new rules that one artillery piece is now equivalent to 80 men. That is a big jump from 25 men. ...... When I edited the User Manual in 2019 Artillery counted as a 50 men for Stacking, not 25. This goes back to the old BG days....
