I like the Campaign play in Gettysburg and Pennisula but the time commitment is a problem. If your opponent can't pretty consistently turn around 2-3 turns a week it is going to be difficult to ever reach the end. Also, as bad decisions are made resulting in significant scenario losses there is a te... |

I still favor as the "best fix" is to change the engine to use artillery ammo on a per gun bases and deploy all batteries in sections since this was the way artillery was deployed in the CW. The one gun - one ammo would solve most of the problems with ammo useage caused by small sections except for ... |

My feeling is the problem isn't with the battery composition but with the game engine. If how ammo is used, crew casualties inflicted, and gun command control aren't changed, then the section size needs to be standardized to two guns to compensate. First, the grouping of all guns into a battery repr... |

This is one I never thought of and isn't covered by the ACWGC House Rules as far as I can tell. It is also probably a good candidate for inclusion along with wagons and officers.

Before we can propose any kind of rule for punishing cheaters, in my opnion at least, we must consider the problem of "can we really identify a cheater?" If the answer to this is "No" then we cannot consider a sanction. I don't consider having a lot of complaints a very good method. They can't be va... |

I agree with Harold, the biggest punishment to the Cheater is he knows he didn't win the game. There is very little else that can be done to prove or disprove cheating since the primary method of cheating is to replay the phase/turn/etc until you like the result or use the replay to "scout" for trap... |

Unfortunately, route is a catch all in these games for a whole lot of things. It represents the tendancy of troops seek cover when the fire gets to hot, withdraw to safer positions when an attack fails, and the real all out route of First Bull Run, etc. It's why I favor using Route Limiting because ... |

I agree with Bill, the best way is avoid Turn based. There is no way to fix it to the satisfaction of both players. The best method I have seen is the NWC's idea of an "embedded melee phase" but I find it very awkward to play a game using. You can't play a game saying that both people should play us... |

Zones of control are one of those game design widgets that allows a designer to simulate many factors that the game mechanics or scale don't allow to be directly implemented. All of which make it very difficult to elliminate. In modern combat it usually represents the range of the weapons as well as... |

Just smuggle a note out of that prison letting us Rebs know where it is. While we are marching around Pennsylvania burning Pittsburg, Philadelphia and a few other Yankee infestations we could bust you out.[:D]
