Good question, David! I suppose the answer has a different meaning for each of the players involved. If I'm on the losing side, I might request a termination bid or surrender myself. If I'm on the winning side, I might do the same out of good sportsmanship. Some guys might want to play things out fo...

Here's an "upgraded" version of my modified Petersburg 2D unit graphics, which you are free to use. This set is a little more eye friendly and distinctive than the first version, although its all a matter of taste. Samples of the three views are included below. 2D Extreme Zoom Out View htt...

Evidently movement cost across a ford hex is dependent upon both elevation change and an undocumented 2 point cost! Within the Overland Campaign, where fords abound, a unit is charged it's normal, downward, movement elevation change into the ford and an actual 2 point cost for the ford water hex. Up...

Doug's original description of the cavalry brigade becoming isolated with its back to the river ford begs some more explanation from the JTS designers. I can easily imagine a Civil War river ford fully capable of passing supply wagons to and fro without too much of a problem, thereby acting more lik...

Club members who've played stand alone scenarios or campaign games from JTS/HPS Campaign Gettysburg owe their experiences to Douglas Strickler. Doug was the designer of that remarkable game package. He was also, most recently, a member of the club, being the late commander of the 4/2/I/AotW, until h...

Well, I was afraid that this was going to happen! We can expect even more claims about the superiority of Southern liquor, the capacity of Southerners to hold it and the availability of memberships to the vaunted CSA Drinking Team! No one is more crafty or successful in mooching free drinks from Nor...

You've got to be kidding, Bill! Doug Strickler, the designer of Campaign Gettysburg, gone? I found the obituary which indicated that Doug was a 5th Judicial Circuit Public Defender for South Carolina. The guy was both brilliant and prolific. I was able to privately question him over his deep work wi...
