We are looking for at least 1 Yank and 1 Reb (galvanizing acceptable) for an ongoing Overland MP game testing a pdt built by Rob Frost, also with enhanced weather and weapons. Rebs should contact Ken Miller or Rob Frost; Yanks should contact yours truly.

Us designers can only manipulate pdt numbers, same as y'all in the wider audience. Can't get under the hood. Your ideas might be taken to a certain point in what we ARE able to do. Wanted to mention, Rob Frost is probably the most experienced in the manipulation of the numbers for movement and maneu...

Exactly right, Steve. That is what I was looking for: Given the vast collective experience of all the forum members, and given the limitations of the engine as it exists what are the suggestions to increase the effects of fatigue and lower casualties?

Regarding fatigue, I needed to be smarter in designing Overland. There are ways to lessen the losses, and their importance; and to increase the importance of fatigue. The potential accuracy of such an approach is evident in historical records, where a unit only lost a handful of men in the whole bat...

There's all kinds of stuff coded into other games that could well be grafted into our ACW titles. Early American wars have engineers with special abilities, for instance; and in the WWII games there are two more command levels, which would be handy for making demi-brigades on the low end, or wing co...

I'll make another suggestion that is not going to happen but like all the others is fun to talk about. There should be a boost in fatigue recovery between say 0400 and 0800 hours, lower during hours of darkness, and peaking during this time period. Why? Because that is when a unit wakes up, has brea...

If a unit with medium fatigue gets a decent night's rest, it could certainly start the next day with zero fatigue. I judge that based on real life, a company that made an air assault, lost 16 killed and 42 wounded, and was ready the next day to go it again. The residual effect was our losses, not ou...

I recall the computerized command post exercises in the army, where the icons for your units would shrink as they took losses.
I can understand where Ernie is coming from, unfortunately.

I send a very modest amount of money to Wikipedia, monthly, and I have contributed a few corrections when the info was egregiously wrong, which is not often. Most of the articles and entries are contributed by folks like us.

As I understand it, the reason for the optional melee results--i.e., all melees as a separate phase at the end of the turn--is because of the blitz possibilities if the melees can be interspersed throughout the turn. Some skilled players can set up melees to follow in sequence--a melee, move up anot...

I was going to donate to the club, but when I hit the donate button the page that came up had his email address at the top. Is he the receiving pay agent for ACWGC? I'd like to know before I donate.

As a nation, we are too politically correct to observe the Sesquicentennial in the "best tradition." For the hundredth, we did. I guess that set the tradition bar. Back then, battle observances competed for the public's attention against civil rights marches. Now, communities were discoura...
