Another use for fire is cooking bacon, burning Washington, cooking some politicians (refer back to bacon, all that pork).[:D] Seriously though, before we worry about deception we need to rain in the 200 foot general. Right now in HPS games you can see 4-5 miles and tell how many regiments are there,... |

If you look in the main folder for the game there is some documentation on how to use the Scenario Editor. The HPS Gettysburg is restricted to using only on Maps HPS issued and their OOB files. They did provide an OOB file that include D. H. Hills Corps named "June12.oob". So you have to create a ne... |

I believe all the tactical battles in FtW were limited to a maximum time of one day. This is more driven by a need to keep the game from lasting longer than all the wars the U.S. has been in than to reflect any kind of reality. A number of battles, like First Manassas, did last through two strategic... |

Looking back on my notes it looks like the ANV OOB was updated with new recruits, etc. and I was just waiting on the okay to issue final orders to my army and the only other person I was in contact with, Ted. I believe I had issued dispatches to all other generals but had not received acknowledgemen... |

Thought I would jump in with some comments. First I am probably to busy and want to burn Washington to bad to switch from General to Umpire [:D] but if a new game is started later I should be able to help out then. As for the OOB since the files are encrypted there is probably no way to make a progr... |

I agree the Fixed Unit system works very poorly. The only time it works as intended is to keep troops well behind the lines that should act more as reinforcements but aren't far enough away to be off map from joining the fight to soon. The present system allows to many gamey tactics trying to avoid ... |

I believe there is a book out on this subject but I haven't read it but my understanding of the Constitution is that if it doesn't explicitedly say the Federal Government has the power to do something then that right automatically goes to the State. No where does the Constitution say that a State ca... |

Just thinking along the lines of a separate Forum like the "Smoking Room" for discussing the optional House Rules so that the threads don't get lost. Especially once some games are started testing the rules it may be months between some posts and in the main forum the threads may be lost. Ideal woul... |

If you and the club get really serious about developing these "House Rules" it would really facilitate it if a separate Forum was created for it. You really need threads on each rule or rule section with players who or using or testing posting their experiences. It requires a lot of dedicated feedba... |

We just need to complete a couple more turns so I can burn Washington[:(!], clean out that rats nest of politicians[:D], and end the war[:)].

Whether Action Point system is included or not, implementing any workable limited command system will require quite a bit of coding. Simply overlaying onto the existing system would fail since the two choices are full movement or being fixed. Fixed in HPS games is almost the equivalent of suicide wh... |

HPS's Turn Based system is a shining example of an attempt to limit movement (idea here being opportunity fire would disrupt movement) being a total failure and actually having the opposite affect (Panzerblitz). Like wise, having any movement taken over by the games AI would be a failure without sig... |

Movement restrictions due to command limits are difficult to implement without unbalancing the games since they inherently favor the defender. Also, coming up with a system that won't allow the failure of a leader to be exploited unreasonably by the other side is difficult. It takes a lot of careful... |
