You just have to develop a good case of multiple personalities. Make sure one is Yankee and the other Reb. :D Barring this, solitaire can be used test strategies. It usually works best in games where one side is clearly the defender since you can plan their defense based on what they should "kn...

Kennon, I see you are using gif's and bmp's can you use png's ? Or will the game not read them. I use gif's and bmp's for icon and such that have to be exact in color and size. Because I use magenta as the transparency color I have to use lostless file formats. I haven't tried png to see if it caus...

Just a general info post since the question has come up. This game does have a full Map Editor, I just haven't released it yet. I am thinking I need to add the ability to handle one more set of hexside terrain and maybe one more set of in hex terrain. The Editor allows the scenario designer to creat...

I would like to volunteer for testing. The game concept is sounds intriguing. I have done playtesting before most notably Command Modern Air and Naval, and Gary Grigsbys War in the West. I have registered on your web site but have not received a verification email yet. Do download the game you do n...

Don't install games in the "Program Files" folder. In Windows 10 this is a special protected folder. The game has to be fully compliant with Microsoft standards which most of these games aren't. Mostly because the Microsoft compliance standards were written by someone who apparently when i...

So far not much interest. For those who help test the game you do get a free game. :D The game probably will be eventually free or just nominal cost if I need to offset the cost of buying things like audio files and maintaining the web site. Very good chance it will be open source. For those who wan...

Of the ones I have tried AGEOD did the best job of Strategic Simulation. It does have flaws which I don't think the ever fixed. However, they did come out with another version, Civil War 2. I have only looked at it on UTube so can't really judge how well they did. At its core is the old game but the...

Since it is rather hard to tell what the game looks like from static screen shots I added a Demo showing the Execution of the orders that were described at the end of the Walk Through document. Forgive the quality, its my first time using OBS Studio. The Video is in a new section of the Web Site. Cl...

You can download the Walkthrough document without registering but to download the game you have to first register and then login.

Forgot to give the password for downloading which is "CivilWar"

Over the years when I mentioned I was developing my own Civil War game a number of people said they might be interesting in helping me test it. Well its your lucky day!! :D :D :D I need some people to do some testing. The game is Alpha so right now it needs some very basic testing along with the web...

I'll take a look at those. I have the US Army Field Guide to Artillery but it mostly covers how to maneuver the guns similar to the Infantry guide. I found very little on how they actually used the guns in battle. Most of what I am setting up for them is based on just logical assumptions with no fac...

This is more a technical question of how they actually handled field pieces. Could a gun crew change the type of ammo in the gun without having to clear the current load by firing the gun? This is important in that it determines how fast a battery could respond to a sudden change in situation like i...

Here's a short video someone put together from the game. It is very well done and it is difficult not to think you aren't watching reenactors rather than a game.

This screen shot will give you an idea of how difficult it is to even see a soldier much less shoot one. This is a shot from new South Mountain scenarios. I believe it was Garland's defense of Fox Gap. There is a group of confederates charging but are partially hidden by the rocks right above the en...
