I played a 7 Pines "version I" game a few years back that was great (it is a version where the full Yankee army releases). However, the 7 Pines scenarios have issues if you allow bridge repair (that was added in after the testing was done) and the one on one battle of this game that I play...

ahh, you are correct on the 100%, I had read the passage in this post incorrectly. I just ran a quick test on the artillery firing and it appears you are correct. It has been a while since I played either in turn mode or in a scenario where I was worrying about artillery, although in my last Peninsu...

Christian, I think your interpretation of full melee defensive fire is incorrect---units can shoot more than once (when playing turn based with this rule on) and each shot is at 100%. To have some control over the AI firing, you can set the opportunity fire range for artillery and inf under the ai t...

I see your brilliance extends to issues beyond our electronic battlefield!

Gen Leon Korotko and I are in turn 62, 3:30 in the afternoon on day 2. Some skirmishing but that is it. My Rebs have him nearly surrounded!

without the wind factor it was -27 C yesterday. It is still cold here in Chiberia. At least we have a decent infrastructure to protect the homeless and try and check on the seniors but for people who have had their gas shut off because they are too poor to pay the bills, it has been a rough few days...

Thanks John, I was unsure about those 1 man units. One real challenge, as you mentioned earlier, is the timing of bringing up the replacements. I mean, I hope I will win an overwhelming victory before they are necessary but the timing of getting them to the right place at the right time is going to ...

I had not noticed it was worth less, but it still has extremevalue as the eyes of the army..

John, How about squadrons for cavalry for the big scenario? It will allow for more recon and soften the blow of losing a recon cavalry unit. With a move range of 24 hexes on a road and 12 in the open/paths it is too easy to trap one cav unit with a brigade of cav. 450-600 man cav units cost a lot of...

it is in the main Campaign Overland Folder, called Notes_Overland_Scenario.txt.

Copy and paste into word for easier reading. I am in turn 7 vs. Gen Korotko...

Mark, is that why you are throwing me back in the Wilderness? I used to listen to the music but (a) I have heard it a lot now, (b) I will sometimes listen to the news, etc while I play, and (c) I often play while children are sleeping nearby!

A few thoughts: 1. please post your march write up. I am always interested in how other players do things. I have been playing these games since Corinth and Eckmuhl came out, and it is only in the last 2 years that I have become an average or better player of the Napoleonics... 2. I am playing with ...

I try very hard to keep my troops organized and together. Col. Koch will tell you that in our current game it has taken me 3 hours to sort out my troops after a head-long, night time retreat (well, I am not sure what he can see but now that I am fully reorganized I have nothing to hide!). However, o...
