Before we can propose any kind of rule for punishing cheaters, in my opnion at least, we must consider the problem of "can we really identify a cheater?" If the answer to this is "No" then we cannot consider a sanction. I don't consider having a lot of complaints a very good method. They can't be va... |

I agree with Harold, the biggest punishment to the Cheater is he knows he didn't win the game. There is very little else that can be done to prove or disprove cheating since the primary method of cheating is to replay the phase/turn/etc until you like the result or use the replay to "scout" for trap... |

Unfortunately, route is a catch all in these games for a whole lot of things. It represents the tendancy of troops seek cover when the fire gets to hot, withdraw to safer positions when an attack fails, and the real all out route of First Bull Run, etc. It's why I favor using Route Limiting because ... |

I agree with Bill, the best way is avoid Turn based. There is no way to fix it to the satisfaction of both players. The best method I have seen is the NWC's idea of an "embedded melee phase" but I find it very awkward to play a game using. You can't play a game saying that both people should play us... |

Zones of control are one of those game design widgets that allows a designer to simulate many factors that the game mechanics or scale don't allow to be directly implemented. All of which make it very difficult to elliminate. In modern combat it usually represents the range of the weapons as well as... |

Just smuggle a note out of that prison letting us Rebs know where it is. While we are marching around Pennsylvania burning Pittsburg, Philadelphia and a few other Yankee infestations we could bust you out.[:D]

On Infantry Fire the maximum fire out of a hex (125 yds) should be 375. This represents the number of men with that frontage in a two rank line. The maximum number of men you can crowd into a hex, assuming a 125x125 yd square, is quite high especially for Napoleonic formations that had much higher d... |

I can't believe they have a street named Metrotech. I use to drive to Chantilly from Herndon because they had the only Boweling Alley in the area. Chuck, you said the your job site was in Chantilly so you shouldn't have much of a commute problem. It's all those poor souls trying to get to Washington... |

It has been a while since I was up there but Chantilly is far enough out to be considered on the fringes of the Washington suburbs. Generally home price increase as you move east of it and decrease as you move west. And, in easy driving distance of Bull Run Battlefield.[:D] BG. Kennon Whitehead Chat... |

Since the games are supposedly trying to simulate Civil War combat on a rather abstract level, in at least theory if you repeat the historical actions for both sides then the game should more or less repeat the historical result. No one ever really does this because you can read about the result but... |
