STATE OF DIS-UNION FROM THE UNION POINT OF VIEW Kennon's analysis of our game is accurate. I will add some insight from the Union point of view. 1862 is a critical year. If the Union is not 'winning' the war in that year then they are in fact losing it. The political point system IS the key to victo...

The winter of 1862-1863 was a bad one for both the army and navy. Ships and transports can be lost at sea but there isn't much you can do about that. Lincoln in a desperate attempt to change the military situation shuffles the command structure. Grant and Lyon are the only army commanders that are g...

The failure of the Amphibious invasions has dealt a catastrophic blow to Union morale and prestige abroad. Although the Confederacy is still completely blockaded, and supplies can only come in via Blockade runners, failure to land Union forces on the Rebel coasts is playing havoc with the political ...

NEWS FLASH - THE WASHINGTON DAILY INTELLIGENCER The radical newspapers are openly attacking the Lincoln administration now that the great naval attack at Ft. St. Phillipe has been repulsed. Halleck in a desperate move to try and bolster the government has sent a second expedition to the fort under G...

September 1862 - A crisis in the Union is at hand! Jefferson Davis, alarmed at the affairs in Kentucky orders Robert E. Lee west to take command of confederate forces in Northern Mississippi. Lee, ever the bold commander marches north and engages Nathaniel Lyon's army and drives him out of Paducah K...

The Yankee armies are still unable to make a lodgement on fortress CSA. The blockade is having some effect but could be better. Kentucky is still unowned by either side but we both have major forces there or near the Tennessee border. The rebs are engaging in all kinds of Cavalry raids and the north...

One thing I did early in the game was to call up the draft. I did this in July of 1861. A lot of people over on the Matrix Board were recommending it as a good strategy. I had already done it against the AI and sure enough you certainly get lots and lots of units. In a game against the AI I think I ...

Excellent summary there Kennon! Ok, a few comments from the Union point of view in this person to person game of Gary's 'War Between the States' (here in WBTS) At the outset I would like to point out that Union play and Confederate play are quite different in this game as opposed to the HPS tactical...

Ok, Kennon and I are putting the game through it's paces. I'm taking the Union and we are putting the economy on auto. Just some general comments and observations in a person to person game as opposed to fighting against the AI. 1.) I just love the game, and now think it will be the best Strategic G...

God, I'm glad there are club members out there like you Kennon that can explain this stuff. I just don't anlayse to that degree, but I'm awfully glad you can bring it down to layman's terms. It certainly seems another darn good reason to play "phased play". Can't stand that 'single turn stuff'. Bg. ...

YO! I've been spending a lot of time over on the Matrix Forum Boards about this game. It is hot, and highly recommended. In my opinion way better than Forge of Freedom and Ageod's American Civil War. It's easy to learn but darn difficult to MASTER. Back to fighting the entire war. Bg. General Gilber...

Shoeless:

I liked your analysis of the 1st Manassas Command Control issues.

Where is Vol. 1? I must have missed it?

I know it's early to be thinking about this, but I think the club should seriously consider adding this game to our 'officially' sanctioned Civil War games. There is a lot of buzz going on in the Matrix Forums about this game. I have been at it for a few days now (the learning curve is steep) but we...
