Harpers Ferry for my book is one of the prettiest places i've seen. definitley worth a trip. As Scott pointed out Antietam is much more pristine than Gettysburg. A cool way to get there from Gettysburg is go out thru Fairfield and over the Monterey pass, basicly mimicing Ewells retreat route. If you... |

With 6 days you have time to see everything. I have taken several tours and watched a bunch on tv,being fortunate enough to live in the commonwealth where they broadcast them on tv. The best tour i took was a 2hr tour on Barksdales charge. If you have any relatives that fought in the battle perhaps ... |

For those that can't make it, Pennsylvania cable network has excellent programming almost around the clock. You can stream it but have to subscribe.

I would suggest Pitzers woods. There is ample parking and it's shaded . The battlefield is usually swamped with traffic and there isn't much parking down in the wheatfield area. Pitzers woods is on confederate avenue where the longstreet statue is. |

Brett, i still think it was a battle of attrition. Grant hammered away at Lee's army and when the numbers turned against him, he moved. Yes he was looking for open ground to fight Lee. Grants superior numbers would be more effective in open ground. Wasn't the infux into Lee's army militia from the c... |

Therefore surely there is no benefit to a Union player attempting to do anything beyond treating each new situation as a numbers game? The Overland campaign was a battle of attrition, that's how Grant fought it. It is what it is. I know I quit the Napoleonic club in disgust after only a few games a... |
