Or write a little program to do it[:D]. Aren't computers wonderful. Changing the OOB reference in the scn files isn't that difficult but I don't know what has to be done to make all those modified scn's acceptable to the game engine. Anyone tinkered with the scn's yet to see how difficult? BG. Kenno... |

Slick, hope they get to the regimental level. I am trying to work out how the companies are deployed and this would sure help clarify the manual descriptions.

Come on, the reason is it abbreviates much nicer as in: CC, CO, CF, CG and then CP.[:D] And, is much shorter than a more descriptive name like "How That Idiot McCellan Managed to Win Almost Every Battle But Lost the Campaign" which would be HTIMMWAEBBLC.[xx(] BG. To quote Bill: "Actaully Old Banshee we hashed this out last week and the bottom line is that its a tradeoff. Drew put in more ammo for the Rebs so you get more shots and more chances to disrupt the Yanks. Which in a way is a victory in itself sometimes." Actually, he did bring up a different proble... |

Oddly enough the best one I have found is Micrsoft's, probably because they didn't write it. Right now its free since it is still beta but at some point I am sure there will be a charge. Unfortunately yes. The mixed up gun sections tend to use more ammo than equivalent Union batteries and take up a lot more road space when on the move. I have had to leave the artillery behind in those scenarios with large troop movements by road. Eventually you run into a wooded area around the road... |

Judging from Al's comment he is referring to the Turn based "Opportunity Fire" as a way to simulate this using lower morale troops. However, there is an additional factor that still makes this not work. In Turn based defensive fire the AI only fires a unit at most twice, usually at to long of range,... |

Unfortunately, in any scenario where the Reb player suspects he may run out of ammo[:(] regardless of how its calculated, if he has a number of one gun units they are rendered useless[xx(]. He can not afford to use them as long as he has 2-4 gun units to use instead. The game shouldn't force such a ... |

The allocation is correct as you say. The ammo allocated is based on the correct count. The game mechanics though are incorrect since one gun unit uses the same amount of ammo as a six gun unit. In any situation where ammo appears limited due to amount or length of scenario the player is a fool to l... |

<font color="blue">Quote from Drew: "ammo points are assigned to UNITS not batteries so there is no Union advantage in that respect. i.e. a Confederate battery of 3 "units" (ex. 3 2-gun sections) will get 3 points and one with one unit will get 1 point in terms of calculation of total amount of arti... |

Actually the very first scenario in CP, Old Tavern, has the problem. The Reb has a relatively low amount of ammo and a lot of one gun batteries and badly need every gun to stop the 2:1 odds against them. To have any chance in this scenario you better start shuffling batteries to get the one gun unit... |

If I remember correctly HPS was suppose to come out with a patch last month for CG to fix the bug causing casualties to be not brought forward in some scenarios. Anyone hear what the status of the patch is? Does the Peninsula share the bug? BG. Kennon Whitehead Chatham Grays III Corps, AoM (CSA) |

Just got my copy and, judging from all the Yank wanted posting, so did a lot of other people. I would like to start a campaign game and will take on whoever I can find, Yank, Reb, etc. Since its a campaign I would prefer someone that can turn around a few turns per week so it doesn't last longer tha... |

HPS badly needs to change how artillery ammo is expended. If they are going to break the CSA units down into uneven sections (1's, 2's, and 3's) they should change ammo expenditure to a per gun bases instead of per unit. As it is it forces the CSA player to not use one gun sections in long battles. ... |
