I have had times when the bte file is so corrupted that the only cure is to go back a turn and get a "good" bte file. Most of the time doing what you described fixes the problem but I don't think it always does.

Lynn's proposal would be an interesting fix. A lesser (as in easier probably to implement) would be not allowing dirsupted units to enter enemy ZOC's. I think the main cause of our game's high casualty rates is the ability to coordinate offensives over the entire map. Some type of Action System to l...

Officially in ACW games its DISRUPTION and in Napy games its DISORDER. I am bad about mixing the terms since I still think in terms of the old board games, you just put a "D" chit on them.[:D] However the two engines treat the states quite differently. In ACW a Disrupted unit can't melee. In the Nap...

I agree with Bob's observations. Major changes through house rules can have significant and unforseen consequences. It takes playing many games over a wide range of scenarios to verify that you haven't unbalanced the game. The best house rules are the ones that are simple and fix something that is a...

Judging from the interview, see link http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/articles.php?p=571&page=1&cat=52 Matrix may be going just about anywhere with this. From the statements made it looks like it will depend on how many games sell which will determine the funding for any real changes to the...

Hmmm, this could be interesting. John is hired to upgrade games that would be in direct competition to his own games.

This would be a significant change and shift of advantage from attacker to defender. It would require some serious play testing to verify whether it unbalances the game. Particularly in Historic Gettysburg where the CSA must accomplish great things in the first day to counter the Union weight of num...

You might want to go over to Southern Raider's Forum and post this question since we can get into more specifics without the Yankees reading your dispatches.[:D] I have a early morning of the second day attack going against my brother with good success but still not far enough along to see if that s...

I'm 57 but getting ready to move up in the ranks in a month. With the state of the art in our current games, I suppect it take quite a love of history to play the games. The question is if someone released a "Civil War" era game with the graphics of say "Total War" series, would they come? BG. Kenno...

Don't know whether you checked the set I use but they are on an open section of the War College. These are from mixed locations with a few modifications I made. Also, they have been only tested with Campaign Gettysburg. I'll try to get to Pennisula in a few days but they should work fine there too. ...

Rich, I really hope you will be able to do more than three. A lot of these would only be minor tweaks to the existing system. Maybe a whole lot of tweaks and one or two changes with some meat[:)]. Maybe partial implementation of some things that will give us 80% of what we want. That is, the old 80:...

I had forgotten the V4V series, checked my archives and sure enough I still have every one of them.[:)] They were great games and there is nothing like plot and pray to see how much nerve you have to try one of those great looking flanking maneuvers[^].
