Now, Lt. Waldron, you shouldn't go scaring these new Rebs in such a fashion. This warning talk of mustangers and former sergeants taking rank serves no purpose to our cause in putting this rebellion down, no matter what form it may take. Lt. Hebert is still trying to find out which siz...

Colonel Lajoie's tournament concept is as unique as it is enjoyable. The award is extremely well earned!

General Thompson's statement about the different types of non-wound "casualties" incurred in a battle is certainly appropriate to the idea of manpower recovery. But as to overnight recovery in a battle I'm a little hesitant, especially considering those units at rest in near proximity to the ...

Hi Nick! Yeah! The separate melee option, or OMR, is an excellent option, first introduced with the Antietam game package. It went a long way to providing part of the former "embedded melee rule" into the actual game. I use it all the time whenever I can negotiate for it in a turn-based game....

The HPS User's Manual states that when the Manual Defensive Fire option is used (that is, putting the game into phase-based mode), that "an infantry unit can only change to Line formation before it has moved although it may move after changing to Line formation." The opposite formation change...

To all the heroic men and women who wore the uniform and gave their lives for this country in so many different places...their sacrifices can never be forgotten nor adequately repaid. But they all have my prayers, admiration and gratitude. God keep them all. Maj. Gen. Jos. C. Meyer Second Division, ...

For a number of years a Spanish gentlemen by the name of Mikel Uriguen had put together an amazing website of the photographs of the general officers of the American Civil War. It was the single, most extensive collection of digitized photos of both Northern and Southern general officers I have ever...

Col. Truitt, In 1993 the Smithsonian Institute put out a taped series entitled Smithsonian's Great Battles of the Civil War in 7 volumes. The separate volumes ran from 60 to 90 minutes and were sprinkled with the services of a number of hollywood stars who read the parts of Lincoln, Grant, Da...

So as General Walters suggests, it should be no problem for HPS to adopt the increase/decrease speed control for combat replay that is currently used in the Panzer Campaigns series. But at the same time Kevin Whitehead and Doug Burke think that the Fire Dialog Box is much too informative about the e...

I've found that in HPS large battles where there is much melee action going on that the replay speed for the opponent's melees seems extremely fast! There's hardly an opportunity to see the actual casualties. Is this a setting issue, or is this the way its suppose to be? Maj. Gen. Jos. C. Meyer Seco...

Col. Brewster, You are forgetting, Sir, the discovery we made in our examination of captured Southern mounts some years back. It wasn't the horses per see that were so offensive to indoor activities; it was the wretched stink that was coming off those saddles! Maj. Gen. Jos. C. Meyer Second Division...

Generals Bastiani and McOmish, You and all of your warrior brethren are, of course, more than welcomed to this special event, and it will be good to see two, well-heeled Southern gentlemen taking in the scene and adding to its overall impressiveness. But the horses will, regrettably, have to remain ...

Last Friday, May 1st, General Derald Riggs requested the officers of the Army of the Cumberland to assemble on May 4th, Monday (today), in the Woodin Injun Tavern for a special awards ceremony, the Uniform of the Day to be dress blues and white gloves! What's this? Two Lytwaks do you say, and both of them AoT general officers? A fine day for the Union Army of the Tennessee.
