For those hoping the game's AI will get smarter don't hold your breath[:D] waiting. Chess has only 6 different pieces for a total of 32 with rigid rules of movement on a 64 square board and took tens of thousands of man hours of programming over many years to become competitive. Our games have five ...

If they still have their special pricing for three games you might consider buying three. I highly recommend Gettysburg and Corinth for two of them. I would lean toward Pennisula for third but I don't own the two other western games so really can't compare. I included Corinth because in its 1.01a ve...

I haven't gotten around to studying the melee question yet but I have observed the lack of loss of guns there. Apparently in melee the number of kills it reports is converted into equivalent gun loss and rounded down (no fractional kills or accumulated kills). Although I thought the number was 25 fo...

I was wondering if anyone new how the HPS games determine when a crew loss occurs for artillery? The User Manual gives the method it uses for determining when a gun loss occurs, 1 gun for each 25 man equivalent casualties or probably of for fraction of 25. This applies to fire from artillery at any ...

That's because the whole thing was a cover for an internal conflict between the Certified and Unionized Public Accountants over who will control the world.[:D] They invented all that other stuff, states rights, etc. as a cover for their conflict. They even tricked us into believing the USA won when ...

First a general observation, I find that Peninsula seems to be short on artillery ammo for both sides which would seem to be out of order for two stationary armies one near its capital and the other near major supply depots. The other is that Gettysburg seems to be short on infantry ammo wagons. I h...

The HPS system takes some getting use too if you are a Battleground only user. You will think a lot of things aren't right like artillery fire and melees but once you get familiar with it you will find it fixed a lot of problems that were in the Battleground games. And, if the only thing you have pl...

I had a great grandfather, Lt. James Whitehead, and a great great grandfater, Lt. Col. R. Martin (James married his daugther after the war). Both mustered in the Chatham Grays company of the 53rd Virginia. The regiment fought with Magruder and Huger during the Peninsula Campaign. Both were captured ...

Or write a little program to do it[:D]. Aren't computers wonderful. Changing the OOB reference in the scn files isn't that difficult but I don't know what has to be done to make all those modified scn's acceptable to the game engine. Anyone tinkered with the scn's yet to see how difficult? BG. Kenno...

Slick, hope they get to the regimental level. I am trying to work out how the companies are deployed and this would sure help clarify the manual descriptions.

Come on, the reason is it abbreviates much nicer as in: CC, CO, CF, CG and then CP.[:D] And, is much shorter than a more descriptive name like "How That Idiot McCellan Managed to Win Almost Every Battle But Lost the Campaign" which would be HTIMMWAEBBLC.[xx(] BG. To quote Bill: "Actaully Old Banshee we hashed this out last week and the bottom line is that its a tradeoff. Drew put in more ammo for the Rebs so you get more shots and more chances to disrupt the Yanks. Which in a way is a victory in itself sometimes." Actually, he did bring up a different proble...

Oddly enough the best one I have found is Micrsoft's, probably because they didn't write it. Right now its free since it is still beta but at some point I am sure there will be a charge.
