story of Gen Strickler and COL(P) Davis when they were privates before they got their commissions

Blake and Mark got promoted from Privates to Field Lieutenants.
Not long after, they went out for a walk and Mark says, "Hey, Blake - there's the Officer's Club. Let's you and me stop in and have us a drank."

"But we's privates," protested Blake
"NO, we's Officers now," says Mark, pulling him inside
"Now, Blake, I'm gonna sit down and have me a drank."
"But, we's privates," says Blake.
"You blind, boy!" says Mark, pointing at his bars. "We's Officers now!"

So they order their drinks and pretty soon a hooker comes up to Mark.
"You're cute," she says, "and I'd like to take you someplace and make you feel good -- but I've got a bad case of gonorrhea."

Mark pulls Blake to the side and whispers, "Blake, go look in the dictionary and see what that gonorrhea means. If it's good, give me the okay sign."

Blake goes to look it up, comes back, and gives Mark the big okay sign.
Three weeks later Mark is laid up in the infirmary with a terrible case of gonorrhea.
"Blake," he says, "What you give me the okay for?!"

"Well Mark, in the dictionary, it says gonorrhea only affects the privates."
Then he pointed to his bars and says, "But we's Officers now!

Better Mark than me anyways.

This reminds me of story from when we were out on an exercise this one night. The lead man in the formation occasionally turned around and whispered to me "Log" or "Rock," which I would pass along. Suddenly there was a crash ahead of me and, from several feet down, I heard a single whispered word—"Hole." When we got back to camp Mark was covered in %@&# and I knew who the fool in front of me was.

Lovely story Gen Miller - just goes to show the danger of achieving rank in the AotM!
