General Pinkham,
Suh,

I've drank to your health in taverns,
I've drank to your health in my home,
I've drank to your health so damn many times,
I believe I've ruined my own!

It is with great honor that I lift my glass on this auspicious day! As we remember your contributions to this Club, to the Confederacy and to this Army as it's beloved Commander. I make one more toast before I go... to all those men & women in uniform who have served all of us very well! <salute>

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier, like you, who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin will be draped by the flag.

Three Cheers for General Pinkham! Hip Hip Hurrah!

General Pinkham,

Here's wishing you the very best!

In your honor we have prepared a buffet of Alabama dishes, including: shrimp & grits; catfish & greens; cornbread & fried green tomatoes; crab soup; and peach pie. Many happy returns.

<salute!>

General Pinkham Sir! <salute>

Vern, it is with a heavy heart that I bid you a farewell. I started in the Army of Alabama back in 2004 and you have always been there. I have enjoyed our times together and that is what being in the gaming Club is all about.

All the very Best!

May I offer you my respects, General Pinkham. Your name has long circulated within the ranks of the Union Army as a feared competitor and gentleman. I have brought a wagonload of the Chicago Blue Light beer under a flag of truce to augment the drinking stocks here at Pinkham's Watering Hole.

Who is that lovely creature over there at the end of the bar, smoking a pipe?

Gentlemen <salute>

In recognition of General Pinkham's service to the CSA I'd like to present him this fine jug of corn squeeze-ins from Missouri.

Suh, please do make sure to keep it away from open flames and remember that it is to be sipped not slugged.

Most respectfully,

General Pinkham <salute>

Suh, the Army of the Mississippi salutes your long and storied career with the Army of Alabama! Nicodemus sends his regards, however he elected to remain outside for a while to keep an eye on General Meyer's horse

Highest regards,

To All, I am surprised by this outstanding turnout to MY retirement party. I must say it has really come as a surprise to me. In fact I have gotten so old that I do not even recall putting in my request for a retirement. But it has been a long time at the helm. I have followed in some pretty big footsteps and have enjoyed every mile of the journey. Since my eye surgery 19 months agoe - I sometimes find it a struggle to keep up with things - even my battles - which I have enjoyed so very much.
To all Rebs and Yanks - I drink with you and I plan to serve as a brigade commander just as soon as someone can find a home for me - preferably here in the Army of Alabama.
Claude, please keep the glasses of these fine gentlemen full.

Vern,

We stand on he shoulders of giants such as yourself.....your name will go down in the accounts of the CSA & AoA with names such as ....John Dragan, Jon Cueno & Jeff Gray! It is truly been an honor to serve a large portion of my time in Western Theater Command with you. Your style of leadership and calm reserve is a testament to your legacy and one that all should follow as an example! I am glad to count you amongst my friends in the Club and I raise a pint in your honor! :D

To all of our retirements! :) May we all go till no chair is left occupied.... :) :P

Vern,
I finally found the party! Seems that I come late and try to stay later.
Serving with you in the Army of Alabama has been a pleasure beyond description.
You were always there to answer my questions; there were many.
You were there to introduce me to officers in blue.
You were always an officer and a gentleman could be trusted in things military and personal.
For all you have done for the club in general and me in particular, I raise my glass.
Here is to the War Horse we should all hope to be!! Hip-hip, Hip-hip, Hoorah!!!

Claude, fill 'um 'gin and don't spill this time.

With Highest Regards Always;

General Pinkham,
Vern,

Why Sir... do you really think that the men of the Army of Alabama would let you run off to another Army? Heck no!

You can have your pick of brigades within the AoA. There's not a man or Division or Corps here that wouldn't be honored to have you fighting alongside of them! <salute>
