Gentlemen of the fine Army of Tennessee please welcome Field Lieutenant Steffen van Nix, who has just graduated from the VMI. He has been assigned to command the 3rd Brigade, 1st Division of the 1st Corps. I am given to understand that he has a military background, however he is not wise in the ways of soldering in the West, so I expect all my officers to do their best in showing him how. So gents you know the drill - get him roaring drunk, into his first bar fight and then it will be off to Mrs Miggins Pie Shop and Bordello for a slap up feed and some love. There is $100 in gold on the bar so lets drink to it hurts and then push on through - CHARGE

I brought some white whiskey and Spanish cigars for the staff as promised in my correspondence. You are correct Sir, I did some fighting in the regulars before the war as a Corporal. Though I am new to this Army, I am sure I will catch on quick fast. Now Sir, let us skip the formalities and line up a few dusty glasses of this corn liquor so we can have a proper celebration!
