Gentlemen upon my handing over command to General Treuting I shall be assuming command of the 1st Brigade, 1st Division of  the 1st Corps. The brigade will be known as the "Alabama State Volunteers". So please step up to the bar and have a drink on my tab to mark the occasion, plus the Gator Alley Division needs a few beers - chasing yanks is thirsty work.

General McOmish <salute>

I shall be honoured to drink on tour tab anytime Sir, thank you, and wish you well on your new Command.

In normal circumstance I should agree entirely with you about chasing Yanks, it is what we do after all ! However, on this occasion I am inclined to enquire as to who is chasing who and further suggest that Gator Alley is going to need more than a 'few beers'............as running opposed to chasing is oft more thirsty work, Sir !

Congratulations General McOmish on a job very well done on behalf of all of us in the Army of the Tennessee! I shall keep a friendly eye out for the banners of the Alabama State Brigade, Sir.

Lt. Col. McEntegart, I cannot say that you are wrong in your comments above. However, if I was the one hunting an apex predator, a master of concealment and surprise, evolved over 37 million years, in its own territory, I would probably only be sure I was the hunter and not the hunted once I was safely back home.

General Marshall <salute>

I thank you kindly for those words of wisdom Sir. I found them most profound and indeed reassuring.

I would expect nothing less of such an apex predator and trust its mastery of the arts mentioned do not make it complacent.

Your obedient servant, Sir.

Since the Yankee side in this contest is primarily manned by fierce Rebel fighters galvanized for this particular fight (yours truly among them), I expect the "apex predator" to be tamed shortly. After all, they HAVE to run out of ammo eventually, don't they? :O

In the meantime, General McOmish, I'll take one of those beers. Fighting Rebs is thirsty work!

That riposte may indeed have the "apex predator" stop and think  although in hindsight such predators were more noted for their sharp claws than brain power

General Sir,
Your post has been filled, but the shoes are big. No doubt our new commander will do great, but you will forever be my first commander in this club and I appreciate your service.Thank you sir, and make sure the quartermaster keeps the mustache accessories stocked, what would be do without them?
