You've chosen a tough scenario my friend. But if we are to preserve the integrity of the Army of Tennessee, I am forced to draw my sword. |

It looks like a scenario where it would be best for two on the CSA side, one for the Army of Tennessee and one for Longstreet's Wing. An annoying set-up from a command perspective with AoT's cavalry on Longstreet's wing (left) and Longstreet's cavalry (and some artillery) over with the AoT. Still, I suspect the Union will have worse command issues so they will want to run which is always fun. It looks like Longstreet will get to enjoy himself the most and see a lot of Yankee backs. Best of luck and Good Hunting! |

The Battle for Tennessee that you selected (Chickamauga 109) looks balanced to me. CSA dispositions aren't the best but neither are the USA ones. Who's your opposition? In Treuting you have one of our best generals who has continued his success since moving to command the West. [I recently finished preparing last month's results for the Total War Challenge (Treuting: 10 battles for 7 Major Victories, 2 Minor Victories and 1 Draw - a battling general of the highest order).] Most Union Generals want to go straight into defensive mode and if they try and defend everything they'll lose the lot. Objectives Hexes are of no importance (all have a value of only 5 VPs). Concentrate a force, hit 'em hard and they should run. Once you've breached their line you can roll down their line. A similar length battle I feel is balanced is Chickamauga (039 - also best as two-player) but then it's not in Tennessee. |

Gen Swanson's assessment is correct, if we can keep the sceer on them, it should not be a problem. My only concern is the big, gaping hole in the middle of our lines, but we do have the advantage of greater numbers of cavalry and overall better quality of troops. This will likely be a highly tactical battle, which benefits the south. As long as we can sever communications between the two wings we should be able to outfight them. We can come up with a more comprehensive plan when the battle begins. Considering the title of this match is the Battle of Tennessee, I can think of no better place than to defend the honor of the Army of Tennessee. |
