General Hecht Sir!
You hit the nail on the head perhaps. With heavily wooded terrain and EFO does it even make any difference. I say yes, because Wilson and Ector's more immediate support could reduce the casualties and thus the point loss taken by Davidson, he being cavalry trying to battle infantry( a lost cause as we all know, unless of course you are John Buford!). This is the Civil War Trust's map of the morning of the first day. Note Wilson and Ector's starting position in the darker shade of red for the 10AM to 12Noon period.
https://www.battlefields.org/learn/maps ... -dawn-noon With current starting positions in HPS Chickamauga the two brigades cannot reach their 10:00AM jump off points. Something to consider if playing the game in the future. If you are a big fan of the battle then the book I referenced is extremely helpful in scenario design.
Good day sir happy hunting!!
