General,

I need not tell you the importance of securing this army's logistical lifeline with the possession of Franklin. The enemy must not be permitted to make so near a lodgement. You are directed to defeat and repel the enemy at every opportunity. General Lytwak has been ordered to send the First Division to your assistance, but I fear it will not arrive in time. As it now stands, our entire southward offensive movement has been halted until the fate of Franklin has been decided.

Gentlemen:

This sounds great and if someone is unable to play I would like to be considered. Thank you.

An Update

At the end of Turn 7 (25-turn battle) the casualties are beginning to mount up.
USA Casualties: Infantry - 472; Cavalry - 352.
CSA Casualties: Infantry - 827; Cavalry - 116.
Bold Yankee cavalry (2nd Michigan) also took a Confederate supply wagon. They will pay a heavy price for that and will be removed from the Union OOB.

The brave Confederates have occupied Franklin and in Turn 8 the Rebel Yell will be heard as they advance upon the nearest Union Brigade with fixed bayonets.

Alas the poor Michigan boys. *removes his hat and wipes his tear rimmed eyes*
However, General, you might want to hold up on that Rebel Yell and save your breath for your retreat.
:D :D :D
Did one of my guns take out the Female Dance Academy? General Kunz's Georgians are holed up in Franklin and they better save us some good liquor when they vacate the premises.

1. That would not surprise me in the least. It would be quite typical for Yankees to aim for non-military targets.

2. I would doubt that General Kunz's Georgians would hold back on liquor any more than they would hold back in a fight. I am unaware of any plan for vacating the premises - perhaps when they have had their fill there they will saunter off in their own good time.

There's a simple answer to your first statement, sir. Simply don't hide behind non-military instillations.

No one has mentioned Col. Weppner going down. At least, from the Rebel lines we saw him fall from his steed. Hopefully it was simply a temporary incapacitation - I would hate to see such a gallant officer saunter off this mortal coil. :(

I'm proud to say that while helping to expel Weppner's Brigade (and others) from the Fort, a musket shot from one of my brave Tennesseans hit and wounded that Brigade's commander.
Further volleys saw the 3rd Michigan Cavalry greatly reduced in numbers and galloping away from the Fort in obvious panic.

Since the Fort was secured by a combined CSA effort, some Tennessee crack shots wiped out the entire crew of Weppner's artillery battery. They now have their sights on the wounded Weppner's replacement - may God have mercy on his soul for that unknown replacement may not have long for this world.

Oh he was hit all right. Perhaps your vision of that event (and failure to appreciate my fine steed) has been obscured by the strange spectacles you wear.
