PR: The Battle of Pea Ridge, Mar 7-8,1862 (Historical) Weather rules(07b PR_Pea Ridge full_H_W.SCN)
I played the version "07b PR_Pea Ridge full_H_W.SCN", this is just like the original scenario but with weather lines added to the PDT.

Points of interest:
- The static VP hexes are a major problem, there is currently no need nor a motivator to attack the Union positions as the VP locations that the Confederates can get uncontested will yield them already a minor victory what is pretty good for their situation(fatigued, disrupted & without supplies). Players will likely settled down on a good defensive position to recover fatigue & disruption instead of going head to head with the union troops.
- Besides this the historical course of the battle suggest that the VP locations on the Bentonville detour to be removed, that area was abandoned by Confederates and later they even retreat off map in the opposite direction and not towards Camp Stephenson. Removing them will more likely lead to the Confederates joining forces like it was originally planed to happen on the first day.
- The current combination of fatigue at 600 and disrupted seems too much for the Confederates. 600 is already high fatigue what gives -20% on melee & fire combat and lowers moral by 2. A value in the Medium range seems enough, maybe 500-550.
- The Confederate strength seem too low, sources point to 16500 but in game it has only 13449 what is about 18,5% less. It may be that the applied casualties that most Confederate units have would correct this. Obviously such strong marching as the Army did would lead the stranglers, desertion and simple sick soldiers but maybe less than it is now applied would be a thing to consider.
- The Confederate OOB seems to miss some units:
Under the Right Wing in Pike's Indian Brigade:
1st Choctaw and Chickasaw (not engaged) Col Douglas H. Cooper
1st Creek Mounted Rifles (not engaged) Col Daniel N. McIntosh
Unassigned and not Brigaded:
19th Arkansas Infantry Regiment (Dawson's) (not engaged) Ltc P. R. Smith
20th Arkansas Infantry Regiment (not engaged) Col. George W. King
(Wikipedia notes that the unit was still unsupplied with sufficient arms and was present, but not engaged, at the Battle of Pea Ridge, where it was detailed to guard the army's train.)
(Wikipedia notes that the unit was formed April 9, 1862, so it was still in the proces of being formed when Pea Ridge happened)
- The Confederate supply trains seem to have been ordered back to to Camp Stephens during the 7th afternoon and evening. On the 8th the Confederate reserve artillery ammunition would be hopelessly out of reach. The fact that supply was in reach but then disappeared could be simulated by listed them as reinforcements but withdrawn them when they arrive, or add them right away with a 0% arrival probability.


Recommendations:
- Add timed objectives that lead the Confederates to attack the positions that the Union will likely take.
- Adjust fatigue of Confederate force.
- Consider less missing soldiers from heavy marching.
- Add missing Confederate units.
- Consider to simulate the disappearance of the Confederate supply.


Weather version specific:
- While 6:00 fits for the start of the dawn the night turns should start at the 19:00 turn as the day was almost 12 hours long. It is also noted that Curtis did a counterattack at 6:30pm but recalled it in the dark what seem to prove that shortly afterwards night fell.
