It is my pleasure to announce that the Cabinet has unanimously approved the following promotions.

Proposed by UA CoA Major General J.L. Boling

Brig Gen Schwartz to Maj Gen
Brig Gen Schwartz joined the ACWGC in 2020. Upon graduation from the Academy he was assigned as a Brigade Commander in the Army of the Potomac. Col Schwartz is an enthusiastic gamer and completed 32 matches in the first year of his membership. In all aspects of gam play he comports himself with honor and dignity and he has fought every contest to its conclusion; never walking away from a game. Col Schwartz has never missed a muster. It was his excellent gaming record and eagerness to serve that caused me to offer him the position of Army Chief of Staff; a role he has fulfilled to the highest standards and in which he continues to serve.

Maj Gen Newell to Lt Gen.
Maj Gen Newell joined ACWGC at the end of July 2020 and was assigned to the AotS VI/ 2 /7. He was subsequently transferred to VI/1/6 after completing the AotS advanced training course. Throughout his tenure, Brig Gen Newell has been an active and successful officer. Maj Gen Newell was appointed to Division Command in January 2021 and was given the opportunity in April to also act as interim AotS Commander and later as acting VI Corp commander from September. His OBD is 862. He currently holds all of these positions with distinction while conducting vigorous campaigning in the field.

I urge the Cabinet to recognize the achievements of these superb officers through their well-earned promotions.

Proposed by CSA CoA General “Dee Dubya” Mallory

I present the following promotions within the General ranks of the CSA to the Cabinet:

Colonel William Stewart to Brigadier General
Col. Stewart joined the ACWGC in January of 2021 and has been extremely active on the battlefield, having engaged in 48 battles in less than ten months. He currently has 378.440 OBD points to his credit.

Colonel Thomas Marshall to Brigadier General
Col. Marshall has been active in the ACWGC since September of 2020, having been awarded the VMI Medal of Valor, the Jefferson Davis Medal of Recognition, and the Patrick Cleburne Medal of Service. He has actively engaged in battle and has earned the requisite OBD points (355.520) for promotion to Brigadier General.

Brigadier General Todd Hively to Major General
BGen Hively has been a member of the ACWGC since August of 2020. In addition to receiving the Patrick Cleburne Medal of Service and the Jefferson Davis Medal of Recognition, he has been active on the battlefield. He has accrued 538.540 OBD points and is currently serving as commander of the 4th Division, I Corps, ANV.

Brigadier General Blake Strickler to Major General
BGen Stickler has been a member of the ACWGC longer than even he can remember. He left the club at one point but rejoined in October of 2020. Since that time, he has re-organized the VMI site, put together several tournaments and blind scenarios, and served as Chief of Staff to the CSA Chief of the Armies. He has authored manuals on the essentials of tactics for the John Tiller games. He currently serves as Recruiting Officer for the club, as Deputy Commander of VMI, and as commander of the 1st Division, II Corps, AotW. His current OBD point total is 489.680.

Promoted again, eh?

At least this time I have company with Will, Todd, and Thomas. All three of whom I know well. I feel confident in saying I am better looking then these men and can drink any of them under the table.

(slaps on his major general star real quick before trouble starts)

Gentlemen, have a nice day.

A thunderous “Huzzah!” and hearty congratulations to Major General Schwartz and Lieutenant General Newell!
Well-earned, gentlemen.

...And, uh, congratulations to you Rebs, too!
Well done, Brigadier General Stewart , Brigadier General Marshall, Major General Hively, and Major General Strickler.

Did I hear correctly that the first TEN (!!) rounds are on the RO, MG Strickler…?

Congratulations all - especially BG Will Stewart who gave me a lesson at Tunnel Hill & LG Newell, who has been a doughty opponent on many fields.

Special thanks to MG Blake Strickler who, along with Gen. Kunz, got me started at VMI & really reawakened my love for these games.

Congratulations to all the officers promoted. I have to say I have had the pleasure of meeting Generals Stewart, Marshall and Holt
on the field of battle. So far I haven't encountered MG BS.

Since it's you, MG Reneau, I believe the last blockade runner did bring over a case or two of champagne...
