Has anyone played the custom scenarios for HPS Gettysburg entitled Wheatfield to Roundtop (4 scenarios) and Worth Dying For (2 scenarios)? I'm not aware of anyone (in this club) having played them other than the two testers and I would like some feedback - even if it's "Huh?" or worse.

Hi, General,

I looked at the four scenarios and liked what I saw, but haven't had an opportunity to play them yet. Been off backpacking.

Sir,
I have installed the Wheatfield to Roundtop and Longstreet's Other Boot scenarios and liked what I saw too, although I have been occupied with ongoing games so haven't had a chance to play them myself. I did recommend them for advanced training manoevres within the AoC though so they have probably been played a few times.

Gen Mihalik, you and Kelly should love Worth Dying For so take a look at it. It's the ANV cavalry corps against the AoP cavalry corps on a small portion of the Gettysburg map that you won't be familiar with. You can't be meek and win this one and if it isn't an interesting battle to fight then it isn't my fault. However, the guy who wins is going to be ecstatic and the guy who loses is going to feel lousy.

Hi, General Simms,

I will pass that information on to Kelly, as he doesn't get to look at this board near as much as I do. We are currently engaged in the Beaverdam Creek-Malvern Hill scenario, which will probably take awhile. Where can I get the Worth Dying For scenarios? Btw, awhile back I put together the historical Williamsport scenario, which involved a lot of cavalry. It was described pretty well in the Official Records. Can't vouch for play balance though. I forget where I posted it though. Thanks for the info.

General Sims:

I have played these scenarios. Wheatfield to Roundtop/Longstreets Other Boot. I played both sides against General Ruhrmann and he thoroughly whipped my b*tt. Good scenarios, short so you cannot sit around waiting to see what happens, you have to choose your poison, so to speak, and put it in play right away. Agression is the key for both sides.

I also played the Worth Dying For scenario against General Ruhrmann (lost again), an excellent cavalry match. Early position is important, but once you get it you have to hold it, not easy.

They are available at Brett Schulte’s ACW Campaign Games Design Center http://www.brettschulte.net/ACWCGDC/nedsimms.html and at Xtreme-Gamer http://www.xtreme-gamer.com/forums/down ... o=cat&id=7 .

This thread is good info for me. I was trying to design HPS variations of shorter scenarios that could be used for almost any purpose, to include tournaments. I was beginning to think that I had missed the mark and designed something that no one was interested in and that would be REALLY bad because there aren’t many scenarios in HPS available to fill that category. I feel better about it now. Thanks for the info.
