Post subject:  Question about units in Campaign Gettysburg

Hi folks ... A question about the morale ratings of some units.

The regiments of the Vermont brigade in VI Corps, perhaps one of the best formations (aside from the Iron brigade) fielded by the Union in the civil war, all have C ratings. Why?

While historically the unit didn't have a role to play in Gettysburg, the Vermont brigade was lauded for its bravery until its was chewed up in the meatgrinder of the Wilderness campaign of 1864.

Why the low rating, and can this rating be easily editted to a B?

The OOB's have been locked since Corinth 1.01, if it wasn't for this it would be a simple matter to change the regiments class by modifying the OOB. Here is a line from the OOB for one of the Vermont regiments.

U 475 4 I R 25 5 2nd Vt

The 4 indicates the 2nd Vt is a C class unit. Changing this number to a 5 would make it a B. However if you change anything in the OOB it will not load properly and you will get an error when you try to start the scenario.

I feel your pain. The Florida Brigade in the western campaigns all seem to have D ratings in spite of their consistent performance in all battles - maybe not stellar, but certainly of B or C quality. The Floridians at Stone's River, for example, made it just as far as the Orphan Brigade (A rated) but get none of the glory. They then formed the rear guard of the army during the retreat from Murfeesboro. They met the same fate as every other unit that assaulted Thomas' position at Chickamauga - got close, suffered heavy casualties, couldn't break the line by direct assault. At Missionary Ridge they - like most Confederate units - were placed in the wrong position and were overrun by the Union assualt, but so was everybody else.

Eh. Whaddya do?
