I have located the Valley HQ site. The Staunton Howard Johnson, 2 Queen size beds in a non-smoking room, $60 + taxes, etc. a night ($203.13 for the 3 nights). I just booked my room. Staunton is located 50 miles west of Charlottesville (120 miles from Reagan International Airport) and is pretty central to our needs.

Day 1 – Thursday afternoon, March 6th, traveling from the Airport down to Charlottesville, if time permits, to take a quick trip to Monticello and hopefully a stop to see the Stonewall Jackson statue and Lee Monument in town before heading out to the Hotel.

Day 2 - Friday morning, March 7th, we can head down south to Lexington (about 40 miles) to see VMI, Jackson House and Stonewall Cemetery. Then work our way back to Staunton, head west out to the McDowell Battlefield on Rt 250 (40 miles). Back to Staunton, from there we can head out and catch Piedmont, Port Republic and Cross Keys. Also Grand Caverns Regional Park is in the area.

Day 3 - Saturday morning, March 8th, head northeast down the Valley to Harrisonburg, New Market, Rude's Hill, Mt Jackson Cemetery, Tom’s Brook, Fishers Hill, Cedar Creek, Winchester and Stephenson's Depot (approx 100 miles from Staunton). If Time permits, we can swing over to Harper's Ferry and Front Royal on the return trip..

Day 4 – Sunday morning, March 9th, will see us heading back towards DC to Reagan, for an afternoon flight home, with possible stops at the Cedar Mountain battlefield outside of Culpeper and the Manassas battlefield, time permitting.

Of course the time table can change with points of interest and how well the party is holding up.

For a great link to information regarding the sites in the Valley: http://www.civilwartrails.org/

Notso, I plan the trip and layout the sites to see, other than that I haven't a clue who is coming. That is nice that you called the Hotel, I made mine on line, so I am not sure about any further discounts for me, darn!

Gents, the time is near, I am taking a flight to DC on Saturday morning, March 1st and won't be back until late Sunday, March 9th. The excursion looks to be quiet eventful and hope to be able to get to all of the places I have listed and maybe some additional sites. We will take a lot of pics and post them once we are back.

In the meantime, I won't be able to get to any of my battles going and if there is any business for the CSA Eastern Theater Command, the Executive Officer, Gen Willie Tisdale will be around to handle things. See ya in 10 days.
