I live in this neighbrhood. This cracks me up! It is sponsored by all of the bars and restaurants in the neighborhood!

Logan Square
Chamber of Commerce Presents:

I hope you're coming to my party.

John Alexander Logan
Soldier-Statesman-Son of Illinois
1826 - 1886

83 Years Old. He's Worth a Trip to the Movies.
This Saturday, February 7, and Sunday, February 8, we're celebrating
in honor of John Alexander Logan. You know, the man they named the neighborhood after? We'll be at the Logan Theater. In Logan Square. And we'll be showing four great old movies that you have probably never seen on the big screen they were made for...come, join us!

The Festival Film Schedule:

The Festival will be using two screens, each showing one film continuously. Watch your first choice film on one screen, move to the other screen to see your second film. Starting times are set so you'll be able to see both from start to finish, and have time in between for a popcorn break in the lobby.

Saturday, February 7:

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939): 1:55 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:20 pm, 8:40 pm
Glory (1989): 2:05 pm, 4:15 pm, 6:30 pm, 8:40 pm
Sunday, February 8:
All The King's Men (1949): 2:15 pm, 4:40 pm, 6:45 pm, 8:50pm
The Caine Mutiny (1954): 2:00 pm, 4:15 pm, 6:30 pm, 8:40 pm

Festival Ticket Information

Festival tickets are $6 for each day. A ticket admits one person to both of the day's features. No single feature tickets will be available for the Festival films. To see all four Festival Features, purchase two $6 Festival tickets, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. There will be no refunds for unused tickets.

Seating at the Logan is unreserved; first come, first seated. To assure seating, arrive at the theater at least 15 minutes before the start of the first Feature.
Festival tickets can be purchased in advance through the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce. There are no advance sales at the box office!

What About the Festival Movies?

Logan was a soldier in the Mexican and Civil Wars, and an elected official in both houses of Congress, so we've picked movies about soldiers...and statesmen.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was released in 1939. Directed by Frank Capra, it starred Jimmy Stewart in one of his first big roles. It's the tale of an idealist who unexpectedly becomes a United States Senator. Nominated for 11 Oscars.

Glory, the newest of our films, released in 1989, is a war movie. It's the story of the first African American regiment that fought for the Union in the Civil War. Nominated for 5 Oscars, won 3.

All the King's Men is a fictionalized version of the story of Huey Long, the "Kingfish" of Louisiana politics, who started out a populist idealist, but became corrupted by power. Won the 1949 Oscar for Best Picture and two others; nominated for four more.

The Caine Mutiny, another soldier--well, sailor--film, stars Humphrey Bogart in what some think his best performance, as a troubled U.S. Navy commander. Nominated for seven Oscars in 1954.
