 Post subject: Confederate Heroes Day
PostPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 1:36 pm
Today used to be a State Holiday honoring "Confederate Heroes Day" here in Texas. For me, it always shall be. The Government first made it a dual holiday and then later on quietly dropped the less politically correct half of the holiday from official sanction. May the politicians who committed this travesty suffer eternal uncontrolled flatulence and gas pains! Oh wait, they are, or were politicians, so they already do......Anyway, today I salute you, Confederate Heroes........

How could anyone have a political problem with their history?! You are not alone, Hank, in bemoaning the stupidity of revisionist activists, nor the resulting, unnecessary loss of context with our own past. Right or wrong, the men who took up their arms in those four and a half years on the side of the Confederacy and Texas did so with conviction and honor associated with their own consciousness deserve a better memory.

To the Confederate Heroes of Texas, I join you with my own salute!

History should be history. IOW, what happened did happen, in the way it happened and for the reasons it happened.

When we use (misuse) our modern perspectives (mores) to change the past, we do a disservice to history.

Ah but the PC Revisionists claim that I and those like me are the revisionists, and usually in highly insulting terms....lol....I do believe I read that almost every Southern State has now quit honoring those men (Do any of you know if I am wrong there?). Oh well, they shall be remembered as long as I live.....That's about all I can do....
