If the new Gettysburg novel is anywhere near as good as the Newt Gingrich trilogy it will definitely be on my "to read list".
Gingrich ACW novels are amongst the best historical fiction i have read.Certainly i would highly reccommend them.

Thanks for the tip: will get it from the local library. Peters was a career soldier and is known as a military writer.
There is also a book by Gingrich and William R Forstchen (who is the actual writer) about the Battle of the Crater "The Battle of the Crater" being listed as Gettysburg Series #4.
Forstchen also has a science fiction series (9 books) about a Civil War regiment that gets translocated to another planet where they battle carnivorous centaurs to survive that was published in the '90s.

Also, Jeff Shaara (son of Mike Shaara--The Killer Angels), author of Gods & Generals and The Last Full Measure (sequels to KA) is releasing a new book Blaze of Glory about Shiloh, the first of a new trilogy about the Western Theater.

Thank you, Major General Elkin, for calling attention to this novel. I rode into town and purchased a copy on your endorsement. I just got back to camp with it, and I must say, it is a very good read so far.

Regards,
