A Hard Earned Victory

The Battle of Stones River began on the last day of 1862 and was one of the bloodiest conflicts of the Civil War. The battle produced important military and political gains for the Union, and it changed forever the people who lived and fought here.

Not sure if I would go at the end of December, but I bet this would be a great place to visit.

It is a very good battlefield site and is well maintained and recently updated.

Great field. Horrible date. December 31 - January 2! The 150th Anniversary will be well attended but it won't hold a candle to Shiloh's which was in early Spring or Chickamauga's which is in late fall. Beautiful times of the year! On January 1 I plan to be watching the Bowl Games

Anyone headed to Antietam in September? i'm in California but my in-laws are Germantown MD so I will be staying with them and making a whirlwind tour of the 'Maryland Campaign 150th" and probably throw in Harper's Ferry, Bull Run, and maybe even Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville.
