As the 2nd newest guy in the club, I have a question for veteran players (from both sides, but especially from CSA officers):

Gentlemen, what are your “Top 5” JTS scenarios (or even top 2-3) in terms of balance and overall fun playing? (Looking for medium to medium+ length/size, if possible, but longer ones are fine.)

Thank you for any suggestions you might care to make.
Respectfully yours,

Hi, Colonel,

Other than some Petersburg scenarios, all I've played in the past few years are very long scenarios.

There are a lot of scenarios and I have played quite a few, but my memory is faulty.

I seem to remember South Mountain, Antietam and 1st Bull Run were good competitive scenarios. Also a what-if Chickamauga meeting engagement.

Always loved South Mountain and Second Bull Run. Found 1st Day at Gettysburg to be a fun challenge.

Hello Scott

I am still new to the JTS series as you are. Here's an interesting equal force fight that I am presently playing. It is Scenario 080c from Chancellorsville described thusly:

(Equal forces fight for victory) Everything is equal. A unique OOB (Order of Battle) has been created so that every regiment starts with 500 men and a "B" quality rating. Every leader is equal and every cannon is the same. Also every cavalry regiment will start with 100 men. No objective hexes.

Gentlemen, thank you all for your helpful scenario advice & recommendations!

@ Col. Dortch:
Walt, Larry Mills and I are trying 080c from Chancellorsville that you suggested. However, we discovered the original OOB is not quite "equal." So we increased the Indp DC Cav from 58 to 100, and increased all of Bayard's cav brigade from "C" to "B" quality to keep things even with the CSA cav brigade. (The adjusted OOB is available on request.) We also added a 600 point objective in the open field vic. Wilderness Church/Dowdall's tavern to preclude both sides holing up in purely defensive positions. Will pm you later to let you know how it turns out. Scott
