Longstreet's Boot

It is 3PM July 2nd, 1863 and General James Longstreet moves the dead cigar to the other side of his mouth and puts the field glasses back to his tired eyes. The die was cast and now all he could do was watch. The heated argument he had with General Hood had escalated to the point that Longstreet asked the angry commander if he preferred that General Evander Law lead the assault while he directed the artillery from the rear. Furious and insulted Hood saluted and then stormed off shouting "I'll take that damned road or die trying!". Longstreet had agreed with Hood that his right flank was in the air, but he pointed out that once Hood had pushed the Yankees back Pickett's tired brigades would move in along side his right and cover his assualt. "Your the best I've got Sam. You've got to push them back. McClaws is ready, but you've got to get them moving." Longstreet firmly stated as he looked Hood right in the eye.

Sickles had upset everything with his unauthorized advance to Emmitsburg Road. However, that did not matter. Longstreet understood Lee's plan. Take Cemetery Ridge and then roll up the line all the way to Gettysburg. No deviating and no flanking maneuvers. Four hours of daylight and straight at them. We've wasted enough time thought Longstreet. He turned his mount and rode back through Kershaw's South Carolinians as Porter Alexander's guns opened up signaling the start of the attack.

Could Longstreet have taken Cemetery Ridge with one more division. Would victory have been achieved if Hood had not deviated to Little Round Top, but stuck to the original plan and attacked straight up Emmitsburg Road. Only one way to find out and its going to be a tough fight till dusk.

And so Round Two begins today. Those commanding the ANV in the first battle will receive turn one by 10PM EST tonight. The initial email will include the scenario file which goes in the your Campaign Gettysburg Scenario folder and the first turn with an encryption code included. Those players commanding the AOP will receive the scenario file only and will receive the first turn from your opponent.
