Just finished a book entitled American Scoundrel: The Life of Daniel Sickles by Thomas Keneally.

A decently good book though almost all of it discussed his notorious trial for killing Key. It really should have been renamed something else as half the book concerned that one event.

But when it got to the Battle of Chancellorsville it stated that Stonewall Jackson was killed on May 2. One massive error is bad enough but a few pages later he stated that during the fighting on May 3 Jackson was dead for 24 hours. Either this author has uncovered a vast conspiracy by the CSA or he had absolutely nobody proofread his chapters on the actual war. Any amateur Civil War buff could have caught those errors.

At that point I was 85% of the way through the book so all I could do was just keep reading and finish it up while taking all he wrote from that point on at a discounted face value.

Not sure if anyone else has ran into such a glaring error before but if you have let me know.

Sounds like a good old fashioned typo, however I was not aware the General Jackson had ever died?
