I first became aware of wargames when aboard the USS JFK in 1972 a ship mate set up SPI's Grenadier and soloed the Charge of the Union Brigade. I am pretty sure that the game action was enhanced by the smoke in my head but I was hooked. We had several games on the ship besides that. I pretty much watched for most of that cruise. Upon discharge I went home and chased down a subscription to S&T magazine and taught myself how to play. At that time there was a pretty good game group at OSU. Never forget the first time I played someone who knew what they were doing. Blew me off the board. This group is were i met Walt Dortch. He taught me a few lessons also.

I live in Oregon's Willamette Valley and am retired. Lots of time for games. Looking forward to playing some of you in the future. When I worked, I was a electro mechanical tech. I worked for 13yr at HP maintaining sandblasters. I spend some time in the early 90's working on a 3d printer concept. Printing in Aluminium, I still have a hallow torus, no way to do that other then an additive process. Unfortunately we could not get consistent bonding. I also spent time running a small Aluminium foundry casting bar code scanner cases. And finally assembling optical oceanographic research instrumentation for Seabird Scientific.

Let's see. Have 3 dogs, 2 Chinese Crested and a Pomeranian Alaskan Eskimo mix.

And finally to balance the scales since several have confessed to being clergy, I am a devout atheist. This is a decision based on my knowledge of Physics and lifelong believes. The final realization came from a conversation with a nonpracticing Catholic.

Welcome to the Club! It is a great bunch here and plenty who have retired including myself. Most seemed to have played these games years ago, dropped out or slowed for a period of time and are now returning. If you ever want some competition just drop me a line, schwartzbill@yahoo.com, as I am always up for another match!
