When I was stationed in DC...my wife and I made several trips to Gettysburg
seeing the fields which our boys crossed was one of the highlights
makes you think
only low point was I had to visit the Massachusetts' memorials....My wife is from Massachusetts LOL
she is just as a proud Yankee as I am a proud Rebel

The day I visited (Dec 2007) it was so bloody cold I nearly froze to death - thank you to the guy who invented the hip flask

If you visit in late June-early July (varies a little from year to year) the lightening bugs are in full force then and if possible standing in the middle of the field on Pickett's Charge is worth doing if interested.

Last time I walked Picketts Charge, it was the end of July and well over 100° with the heat index. This would be a welcome relief! Winter is indeed the best time. I'll post a pic of summer from LRT and a fall one from LRT and the view is very enlightening due to the lack of foliage.

Well it's been 106, 106 & 102 the last three days with the heat index! So come on down....the water is boiling!  8) I'll have to look through my photos as well.

My wife actually got this one with her cell phone this past March:

She was standing just down from the Angle (which one can see in the photo), slightly past the 14th Connecticut monument.
