124th NY, The Orange Blossoms, overlooking the Triangular Field at Gettysburg. Colonel Van Horne Ellis is the man depicted on the monument.
"The men must see us today!", was his words as he tried bravely through personal attempt to rally his men.
He was killed and moved on to the rock that the monument sets on.

The Triangular Field is really a moving place to be, especially when no one else is there or nearby. It's incredible to think of what him & the 124th NY did there. It's a place I stop at often to take photos and reflect, especially in the off season. Warfield Ridge is on most of the the horizon in the below photo. The snow covered roof of the Slyder Farm barn is in the far left of the photo, just above the brown field.
