I suppose that this has been brought up before (and maybe I even missed whatever was done to possibly correct it), but I've always had a beef about objective hex flags! You know the ones I'm talking about: they change to be seen by everyone everywhere when the hex changes control. Quite the deal, and certainly not compatible with the era's battlefield intelligence environment. Yet I've never known a more ahistorical element present within the JTS/HPS system. And no doubt all of us at one time or the other have made use of that very thing to guarantee that we can instantly know if we need to send troops back to regain those victory points. And don't tell me that it's an easy thing to turn the thing off. That guarantees nothing!

Great point. I have had that happen to me before to. I see a flag suddenly change sides and I know something is up. I have been known to even camp next to an objective flag and "Wait" to take it until the end of the scenario to avoid "giving my position away."

Its one of the more "gamey" aspects of our... um, games.

I tried to think of a solution but all ideas I came up with had a counterpoint that made them unusable. Maybe someone will find one down the road.

Gen. Meyer, sir <salute>

Joe, maybe an easy fix would be to make the flags a neutral icon so no one knows who owns it or remove the flags from the files so they don't appear? This would need to be agreed to by both parties as a house rule but would keep this less obvious to who holds the objective.

At least the Victory review screen would be the only way to spot it.

Garrison the victory hex.

I've thought that signal units (maybe balloons?) would be nice. I agree it's odd and I've relied on that change for alerts.

Problem is an astute player could check the victory dialogue to see if the objective points changed. But it would still be an improvement because they might not know which victory hex changed.
