I really enjoy some of the modern paintings of the Civil War. My favorite artist is John Paul Strain - I have a copy of his work, "The Horse Marines" (http://www.johnpaulstrain.com/art/the-horse-marines.htm") hanging in my guest bedroom. Of the four painting excerpts at the top of the ACWGC site (http://www.wargame.ch/wc/acw/), I most relate to the third one, of a dashing soldier bidding farewell to a lovely young lady. May her husband never find out!

I had never heard of John Paul Strain. I like the looks of his work; I like it a lot. This year my Christmas present to myself was several JTS titles; next year I will look at getting one of Strain's prints. Good stuff. |
