A woman loyal to the North was overheard to say in admiration, "Oh, I wish he was ours!" as Lee rode by on Traveller during the Gettysburg campaign.
I was wondering if you gentlemen had a general of the opposing side that you could say that about, someone you feel that your army would have benifited in having their respective command.
Although R.E. Lee's character is without question, and, admittedly we could debate General Lee's tactics, I would have to go with Nathan Bedford Forrest for my general of choice.
From what I have read of General Forrest, he also seemed a very honorable, brave, man (please, let's not get into Fort Pillow here). His cavalry tactics (get there with the most men the fastest), although quoted by himself as simple enough, are far beyond the simple explanation given by the General.
The worse thorn in Sherman's side, I believe that the fall of the Confederacy would have happened much faster without the efforts of this man.
Just curious if anyone has a general that, given the chance, you could "draft" into your respective army.

Sherman was certainly impressed by Forrest and wasn't shy about expressing it.

With the first pick in the 2020 Christmas Draft, the Confederate States of America select, from Virginia, George H. Thomas.

Analysis: A native Virginian and a solid defender the skill set that Thomas can bring to the Confederacy is apparent. Perhaps the Confederacy could have gone with another offensive piece, like your Sherman or Sheridan, but the reliable Thomas will help shore up the defensive side of the equation in the Confederacy. Expect to see him stepping up into a leadership role right away in the western conference where he will likely be paired with fellow Virginian Joseph Johnston in an attempt to shut down the opponents running game.

Draft Grade: A

Thomas: "I am really honored to be the first pick here in the draft. You know I just want to thank my mama and my family for the support they have given me over the years. To my peeps back at the Point I am going to make y'all proud! Go Army beat Navy! You know I also gotta thank God for all this. I just hope I can help out the Cause, listen to what the coaches tell me, stay humble, and help bring a championship trophy to the Confederacy!"

Typical! Confederates are one of the top rated teams in the league, get the top draft pick again but can't seem to win the BIG game. Looks like they'll end up in second place again next year.

(Great job, Blake!!!) :D

Alright then. I'll go first.
You all can have: Burnside, Hooker, Halleck, and...well...we're still on the fence about McClellan. A few others we have our eyes on that could end up on your roster too.

We don't want Jeff Davis either. Send him back to the minors.

The phrase "Oh, I wish he was ours!" could only have come from someone in the Union about a Confederate.

Those in the Confederacy had no desire for any in the Union army to be leading them and often with very good cause. The Union may keep theirs and the Confederacy can find a place for all of ours (even Brigadier General H. H. Sibley) as their hearts are true in their desire to stop the violators of Southern homes and firesides.
