Just read some trivia about Gods and Generals that Russell Crowe was reportedly in talks to play Jackson. When he backed out the part went to Stephen Lang instead as he was already signed on to play Pickett again.

Russell Crowe as Stonewall? The mind reels.

That would have been awesome! Great Movie made even better! Robert Duvall and Russel Crowe as Lee and Jackson; what a combo they would have made (on screen); we know how well they did in real life :)

I think Lang as Jackson was a very good outcome. Crowe as Grant in the final still mourned uncompleted last chapter would have been epic.
