Monument depicting Grant's headquarters on the evening of April 6,1862.
This is where his buddy, W.T. Sherman found him, whittling on a stick.
"Well, Grant. We've had the devil's own day, haven't we?"
"Yep. Lick 'em tomorrow, though." 8)

As much as I love John Wayne casting him as Sherman was almost as bad as casting him as Genghis Khan (yes, that happened). Harry Morgan and John Wayne as Grant and Sherman in How the West Was Won.

But who would play a good Sherman? Richard Widmark pops to mind as he was good at characters who were a bit unstable with a violent, insecure, side.

Right you are, Colonel. Two of his worse roles. As old fashioned and original as it sounds, I think Stagecoach was one of his best.
Oh...forgot to mention: two great Ohio boys mentioned there, Grant and Sherman. 8) 8) :D
