has anyone played GMT's newest version of Shiloh, Into The Woods? Is it a good simulation of the battle? Is it worth buying?

GBACW series is definitely worth having a try. It provides more tactical details than WDS ACW. Meanwhile, it provides simulation above the command and order in the command chain above the brigade level while the simulations of WDS ACW for this are sorely lacking. However,

* I am not sure about your experience with board games. GBACW has high complexity and is not so easy to learn. It has many misc rules. Into The Woods adds many special rules.
* Well, actually, I don't have Into The Woods. Because I relatively disliked that fight. Too many woods. The organization of both sides is also very chaotic. But if you do like Shiloh and the chaos in the battle, GBACW is a good choice to experience chaos.
* An AAR of Into The Woods in GMT Blog. FYI. https://insidegmt.com/go-in-where-the-f ... cenario-6/

(By the way, I would like to recommend MMP GCACW. On to Richmond2 is on sale. It is one of the best titles of this series. It is also the best game I've played to experience and explore the Seven Days Campaign. The series rules and the campaign are a match made in heaven.)

Col. Ren,

Thanks for the remarks. I am not very experienced with the Shiloh battle. Tried the WDS Shiloh battle once and got beaten badly within the first ten turns my opponent suggested that I end the game as every unit I had that was attacked ceased to exist. He said there was no chance of the Union scoring even a draw.

On To Richmond2 sounds interesting. Thanks.

With the possibility of retirement drawing nearer, I've purchased this title although I haven't even unboxed it yet. Also, awaiting delivery of 3 Days at Gettsburg - its a P500 game that has made GMTs "cut", but I don't believe it has yet been sent out for printing. Even if I find time to play, I have no idea where I'll find room to set them up.
