In the historical battle of G-burg scenario (1st one on the list, Historical 1), Heth's supply wagon shows up on the afternoon of day 2 and Pender's on the evening of day 1. With particular reference to Heth's wagon, I just wanted to see if this is correct? With no other wagons out there, it makes it difficult for Hill to maintain an offensive -- especially with my penchant for running out of ammo every other shot! [:o)]

Just wanted to check to see if the times are correct. In the larger scenario they are with their commands, though they are a long way from Gettysburg and may have been held back somewhere.

I noticed this the other day also. I just figured it was a bone to the Union to help offset all those other advantages you Rebs have. [8D]

Now Mark, we all know a Reb can whip 10 yankees, but without bullets we can only whip 9.75! [:D]

Bill, the 1st scenario is the "historical" scenario with units arriving on the map as reinforcements. If I & XI Corps wagons should also be late, at least both sides can only attack via melee. And I agree about road columns, but I think that would involve adding a formation to the engine? And being able to draw supply from 2 or more nearly-depleted wagons would be nice, or failing that the ability to combine them into one unit?

That would be historically accurate – since Heth was not meant to start a battle, the division supply wagons were left behind near Cashtown with the 11th Mississippi from Davis’ brigade as the wagon guards, hence why Davis’ brigade only has 3 regiments on Day 1 of the battle and the 11th Mississippi arrives by itself that evening/night. I believe Pender’s wagon was behind because when the battle started to heat up, he had to by necessity leave the wagon in the rear while the infantry and artillery rushed forward for combat so that the wagon would not slow them down. By this time Pender’s men were already on the road ahead of Heth’s wagons so those wagons could not arrive until after all of Pender’s units and wagons.

So historically, the Reb supply situation is probably correct, but as has been pointed out, the Yanks should have no wagons either.

Every once in awhile it strikes me how much I really enjoy this type of question and dialogue. Often I try to explain to people (maybe too often [:)]) that this Club is actually a means to improve my historical knowledge of the ACW. The levels of knowledge and the library of work that's available through other members is awesome.
